    The last segment was fantastic.

The F-Type review was, again, very good. As was the Range Rover Sport.

    Webbo was an excellent SIARPC
    - I'm so glad he beat finger, but I was surprised that Clarkson didn't quip about it being the first time he's been in the same car as Vettel.
    :p

Definitely one of their best episodes for a while, Webber made a fantastic guest - it's refreshing to see an F1 driver who can be honest, since he's getting out of the sport.

Last night was one of the best Top Gear's for a long long time. The F Type and RR Sport reviews were excellent, Webber made an awesome guest and that last segment was right up there with anything they've ever done.

It's felt a lot to me in recent years they've started to fall short on the individual reviews. Ultimately TG is still a car show about new cars and I love all the random mental stuff they do but it's nice to see some actually good reviews of new cars.

He kind of did, it was just very subtle. When he gave the time and everyone was applauding he said "And in the same car as Vettel!" I nearly wet myself when he said "Well, my dad says you should never hit boys".

Yep, looking forward to seeing him back in sports cars again for some real racing!

The last segment was up there with the V12 Vantage segment Clarkson did a while back:

Sad they didn't mention how many carbon fibre companies are based in the UK, that support all the teams. Most of which seem to be based with in a 50 mile radius of where I am, one of which I could be contracting with very soon..... LM1 & LM2 + F1

    :)

I like how they backtracked on those factories without anyone batting an eyelid. 'nd the kick in the nads remains, the top of the money goes overseas.

Afraid that is the case, keeps a few thousand people off the dole, but the truth is that the profits got overseas. :(

British brands should be owned by British companies.

Good episode of TG, probably one of the best in the series.

One thing that did suprise me is that they didn't put the Range Rover Sport / Jag F-Type around the track with The Stig at the wheel. Would have been quite interesting to see how well they perform in comparison to the other cars on there.

Also, the section at the end about how British companies are still supporting the car manufacturing industry, the program that followed TG was quite fitting viewing (Das Auto: The Germans, Their Cars and Us).

And if they were British owned the end result would be no different... the majority of the money would still end up in some tax dodge friendly off-shore bank...

Back to the topic though, it was a good episode... The Webber interview was one of the best SIARPCs for a long while

was one of the best episodes I've seen in a long time also. More cars, less nonsense. Not that I don't love the messing about - just that sometimes the messing about is not sincere as they pander to public perception of what they should be doing on their ratings quest.

V.interesting interview with Webber. I don't even watch F1 really, but a frank conversation is commendable even in jest.

Loved the last episode, that's more like proper TG. Looking forward to the Autumn now I guess...

I had a little laugh when after all that flag waving and saluting the British car industry had ended the very next program was about how great the German car industry has been post war and how woeful Britain's was.

When they're not making crap stuff like the hover van and doing daft challenges, which i sometimes find patronising, they can make some really good and quite informative articles like the beginning to whats made in the uk.

I was hoping they'd show one of these Triumphs during the British segment:

Quote James May from a previous episode sometime: "A Triumph 3 cylinder at full chat is one of the best sounds on earth"
