I also enjoyed the last episode, and I actually thought they could have extended the last segment into something much longer.

I personally wouldn't mind them doing some more serious challenges. For instance, their electric car challenge was a bit rubbish, but if they actually tried to make something decent, instead of just something silly, I wonder if they could manage it (with what is probably a largish budget).

I know they aren't a fan of modified cars, but I wouldn't mind seeing a modified v's production kinda thing, if done well with nicely modified cars, not fast and the furious sh*te with massive spoilers and covered in vinyl. From what I recall, they've only ever really featured one modified car, that being the Jun R33 Skyline years ago.

Not a huge feature on it, but Hammond and May used a modified 306 (I think) on a hill climb challenge (I think) against a Frog Eyed Sprite (I'm really not sure on this one, I should probably pay more attention).

Correct Cookie! It was a Frogeye sprite against a V6-modded 306 up Prescott. I'm quite proud that I was only 5s slower up there than the Stig was in that challenge. :D

Can't remember any other non-professional modded cars, did they do the caravan-towing record with a modded Evo back in the first series'?

ETA: Yes they did, back before May had long hair and Clarkson went grey.

Yeah, remember that one. That Pug was dreadful though. A standard 306 looks better, whilst I also like the look of ones with bigger alloys and lowered suspension (the alloys on the back tuck nicely under the rear arches). But that bodykit was simply horrible, not to mention all the cr*p crammed inside. The V6 bit was the only decent thing, and even then it may have ruined the handling.

I'd be interested to see if any modified car out there in Britain could get close to the top of the leaderboard. There are plenty powerful enough I'd imagine, but would they be able to cope well enough in the corners to push the super-cars and hyper-cars. Thinking road legal here, not track cars.

They've had a few Brabus cars on the show, from what I can remember. Then there was the Jag XJS that "killed" the first (black) Stig, when he forgot to stop at the end of the aircraft carrier.

They also used (briefly) a transit van that was carrying a Jag XJ220 engine - the UK/Aus competition.

One of the challenges they have done was to modify a Renault people carrier in an attempt to have it set the same lap time as an EVO.

They didn't have a massive budget though, so they did things like brakes, tyres, weight reduction etc.

Just watched the last episode on Iplayer, in a hotel in London, having walked up the Mall earlier today.

PS Webber, "My dad told me not to hit boys" - legendary!

Is it just me, or does this jibe not backfire a little bit?
The implication of "My dad told me..." is that he told me as a child, and the traditional expression is "not to hit girls". The reversal of which would imply that Mark used to be a girl :)
I actually think he was about to say "My Dad told me not to hit girls" but suddenly thought that this might be construed as sexist and changed it (Overthinking things? Moi?... :worried:)

    Aaaaanyway,

As for modified cars on Top Gear, anyone remember the Lada Lotus?

Or just simply, Webber is a man and Vettle is a boy.

    Yes. :p

Jeremy drives some fast cars in Wales or Isle of Man.
There is a slow-mo of burning rubber or launch-control.
    Copious use of ND filters.
Richard Hammond is planning another fake and shitty challenge.
Powerrrr is said at least once per episode.
They interview Vettel, after he wins the F1 season.
Some reference to caravans, probably complaints from Season 20.
There will be a Ferrari on at some point.

I'm gonna come back in 6 months and see how many I can tick off.

Nothing much, except the Richard Ham-it-up part. I'm just stating the obvious :p

To be honest, I'd rather have Hammond doing the fake and shitty challenges instead of the 300+ mph near death dragster runs.

Top Gear mag's RSS feed says they're off in the Italian Alps playing with the Alfa 4C.

I think getting them to repair a potholed stretch of the UKs road could turn out quite entertaining.
