    I finally caught up.
The road trip was somewhat sub-par to me. I don't think they'll ever reach the greatness I saw in the Vietnam trip again.

That said, there were some properly funny moments in the two episodes. I was a bit sad about Clarkson not having any serious issues (at least not like James - and he was the only one that realised the thing with the brakes), but such is life.

I found part 2 genuinely entertaining, just for the childish humour.

That said having twigged the bridge was fake makes it a little bit meh.

Thoroughly enjoyed yet another brilliant road trip special.

The great thing about them, is when they comment on the jaw dropping scenery, they sound genuinely in awe of it. The tourist numbers must take a huge bump after each special, except for Alabama of course

Maybe I'm getting 'soft' as I grow up but I actually felt moved by Clarkson talking about his dad, it's a side you very rarely see from him.

Regarding the actual episode, I found it a little boring tbh. Tonight looks to be more 'fun' though.

Way too much driving around fields supposedly looking for a road, 'Boring', suspect that after watching tonight's episode it would have been better if shown in one episode rather than dragged out in two.

Well, that was certainly quite a spectacular end to the special.

The horse bit was so ridiculously staged. I feel top gear has lost something over previous specials...

I didn't really enjoy it that much, nothing really happened in the whole 2 shows, no challenges, bit boring really. Looks like they could be in trouble already too,

I bet most people under 50 never even knew before the Burma special controversy that the word slope can be used in a racist context.

So the two or three people who bothered to blow it out of proportion back then really got more than they bargained for and now they try to reheat that old story? Can't they find something else to be upset about, like for example the got boring a decade ago jokes about Hammonds teeth?

The excuse about 'slope' was they never new it could be considered racist to call someone of asian decent 'A slope'

    Really??

As a general rule, when applying a nickname to an entire race of people it is very difficult to not be racist. Just.

    Don't. Do. It.

PS. I knew 'slope' was racist and I'm definately under 50. I don't think it's my age that matters... it's my milage.

I think people have lost the whole idea of top gear specials to be honest (apart from, racism).

They are supposed to be tongue in cheek, they are scripted, it is an entertainment program after all.

Do you really think Jeremy found a dead cow on the side of a road in the USA special and hauled it onto his roof.

Just have a lol at it and move on and stop being so bloody critical.

before the ''slope'' business on Top gear i had never heard it used, and neither had any of my family

    Next they will be saying
''Clarkson causes offence by insulting Lotus, hundreds of flower shop owners boycotting top gear''
