Apparently, this incident isn't anywhere near as serious as many seem to beleive, not to mention it was several days before it was even reported.

Sounds more like a heated argument that both sides walked away from, but then the 'producer' decided to actualyl make something of it; being a producer, it means they pulled some strings and got Jezza suspended, most likely out of spite or vindictiveness.

Jezza is no angel ( Pears Morgan deserved to be punched and more... ), but I don't see him as being a violent thug going around hitting people just because he couldn't get his own way either.

While the latest series has been good. It is starting to get a bit stale, same old format. Maybe throwing a new lead in there would do the show some good.

or Clarkson actually punched the bloke , and like every employee in every company anywhere - the BBC have investigated it , and might well fire Clarkson for gross misconduct.

just as you would if you punched your line manager at work....

Assumptions, everyone is making them. I suggest we wait until we have some actual facts.

However, the fact the police were never involved and he wasn't sacked immediately for gross misconduct ( and the fact the incident went unreported by the 'victim' for days ) says a lot about how serious, or not, the 'punch' was. People can have fallings out and slanging matches all the time without either party being sacked over it. Like I said, assumptions in the abscence of facts...

According to Euro News, the BBC (I presume) have received 400,000 signatures demanding the re-instatement of Clarkson.

Seems kind of high to me but who knows. Shame we can't get this kind of momentum with important issues in life. Although getting him and TG back is pretty dam important.

Heh, at the risk of sounding smug, sounds like I may have been right pretty much; no punches thrown ( apparently ), just a heated argument ( over lack of food after a day of filming ) and some 'producer' deciding to make a mountain out of a molehill and gain some attention.

Like I said, if this was an assault you'd have reported it to the police and your bosses straight away, not only to your bosses several days later. I dislike snitches...

Indeed, I'm sure the facts will come out in time.

On a personal note, I used to enjoy the show, but stopped watching after the first Stig left. I thought then that it had become too scripted and worn our (not old, just worn out), I don't think it's changed at all since than, I think they have become too frightened to change it for fear of losing viewers and income. I only watch the specials (even then, only if I can be bothered), and have not enjoyed any since the Vietnam one. This may be just what is needed to reformat the show.

For a long time now, May is the only one I'll watch with any enjoyment - in his spin-offs, and possibly because it's only in irregular one-offs.

instant dismissal is not on the spot - the company have a legal obligation to follow due process to ensure the disciplinary is fair or they would be sued.

    same as any company.

Oh, look at that, the press twisting things around as per usual. Still, curious why it took him so long to report the matter.

As for summary dismissals; not good enough. I demand such employees to be fired immediately. Out of a cannon. Into the sun. :D

I'm also curious why it took him so long to defend Jeremy. :eyebrow:

EDIT: The Sun say it was Jezza who reported this to the BBC, before they and the rest of the press got hold of it.

I doubt anonymous would just do a DDOS attack to be fair, anyone can do that... So I don't think that's legitimate.

Meh haven't really read the last couple of pages, but seriously? Gimme a break. I'm not an UK resident so I wouldn't know the other programs they're showing, but surely Top Gear has to be in the top few? And they're screwing it up for some petty ********? Yeah why not.

    I just want my doze.

Clarkson makes too much money for other people, to be fired. On the petition, surely the fee paying British public should have a voice over who and what they see on their TV station.

lol at the DDoS. What a waste of a perfectly good botnet.

Rumour has it (thanks, Autoblog) that ITV already jumped and offered Jezza 10 million to leave the Beeb

I wonder what they'll have him doing though, if he went...
