Did anyone catch this late last night? I watched it with my housemate I thought it was pretty awesome, we heard the "next is blah blah blah" and thought it sounded weird so we watched it. It's about this vampire and a warewolf who are friends, they then decide to move in together, they find a flat and then find it's haunted by a ghost.
I watched it - was OK... Although the basic premisis of vampires being cool, superior and about to take over the world and werewolfs being an undead underclass is a little old. Here's hoping that it doesn't descend into "The Odd Couple meets Underworld" The guy who plays the werewolf was chewing the scenery most of the time [Pun Intended] - I hope he calms down a little, as it could get a bit tiresome. I liked the Ghost's habit of making cups of tea all time, even though she can't drink them. And the whole 'what happens when you die' thing is interesting - I hope they expand on that. I'll certainly watch it again next week
That might be a problem GOO, as currently its only a pilot I really enjoyed it and http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/feb/14/bbc.television gives us hope for more episodes.
Bah. Seems to be almost universally loved though: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=744473 But apparently BBC3 in their wisdom have chosen to commison Poo Action for a series over Being Human, or any of the other pilots. Before the others even aired.
I checked it yesterday on the iPlayer, after reading this tread, and was at first rather befuddled. After watching it all the way through though I'm oddly drawn towards watching the whole series - I just can't figure out why.
That is one of the best written things I've seen from the BBC for a long time, the characters are such a cardboard cut-out of the typical frame for there class but with that little bit extra that makes you interested. Can't wait for this to get a full season run.
pilot or not? Just to be certain. Was BEING HUMAN a pilot or not? If so will they be launching it into a new series?
Yay! Being Human, the series based on the pilot shown last year is starting this Sunday, 21:00 on BBC3. Just goes to show what popular opinion can do. What ever happened to Poo Action?
Well hopefully it will make up for that awful piece of shite that was Clone. Quite what Jonathon Price and Mark Gatiss were thinking, I'll never know... As far as I can see, Being Human is the only one of that series of pilots that has made it into production and onto the screens. Phoo Action, despite being commissioned before the pilot even aired, was cancelled by the beeb just before it was due to start filming because it "was struggling to fulfil its ambitions as a television drama". According to an article in The Grauniad, there were script and cast problems, with cast allegedly being embarassed to say their lines...
Well - that was interesting. It's not the same people (bar George), but it's got the same feel as the pilot. And the fact that we now know how they all became who they are. The change of head vamp seems a good move as well - the one in the pilot (Adrian Lester?) was just to damn Anne Rice for his own good... I do wish George would quit screaming like a girl though. That said, I'll be tuning in next week. Knocks the feeble demons into a cocked hat. Poor old Phil Glenister can't do a yank accent. Why can't he have been a Manc demon slayer? He's got that down pat!
It was an impressive show and the new casting choices are a step in the right direction. Make sure you check out the characters prequel stories on the bbc three site.
I'll be watching it again, not a massive fan, but it's enjoyable enough. Might grow on me. Liked the first episode more than the pilot. Oh totally! If he was playing Gene Hunt the demon slayer it would just be too awesome for words!
Liked it. It has potential. QFT. Could have made it work, too. During his police work Gene stumbles across a paranormal crime and a bunch of demon hunters and gets recruited into the team because of his demonstrated unique "problem solving abilities". Driven by a strong sense of right and wrong and the need to protect his city from what he realises is a whole level up from the usual scum he fights, he approaches the task in his usual cut-the-crap, down-to-business style. "I don't need to know what it is, where it came from or what some 2000-year-old crazy monk wrote about it. I just need to know which is its ****ing head so that I can put a bullet in it".
