One thing I'd like to know.... (I'm thinking of going for an acrylic case) is can you easily disassemble them into their flat panels?

The BeanTechs have always been appealing...

You couldn't easily flat pack this case no; the left, right and top panels all unscrew but like the c3 case everything else is glued together. I guess this is probably the case for all acrylic cases apart from the build yourself ones :)

    Gosh darn it...

I'm sure there was a review on here of a case that came flat packed...

*Has ideas for a clear case which would be so much easier if the panels could be done one at a time*

    Front Page

I'm sure I saw this article linked off the main part of the front page with a huge piccie etc. How come it's now just a little link, and on the side?

What makes a review/article get 'super' front paged?

    Re: Front Page

All reviews/articles get on the front page... there was a minor hickup after this review was set live and the front page post vanished as a result, it'll be back up soon ;)

Yeah I like the BT-85 case. I did a review on it a few months ago before BeanTech released the case. I'm not using it right now because I have plans for it :D

Yep, it's noise reduction matting - one side's sticky so I cut out a pad for the base and a U shaped jacket for the top of the pump, stops it making horrible noises when it rests against things :)

How does it effect the pump's heat output?

The 1250 only gets luke warm to the touch... the only ventilation is through its front and it's sitting right in the path of the two front intake fans, so I've not worried about it tbh :)

nice idea cheese today I got some foam from a cd drive boc and sat my 1250 on it and its loads better than normal sound proof matting I found and I did get a hum from it before now nothing which is good but also means I have to keep checking my bayres for water movement just in case!!!! :geek:

I have a couple of questions about acrylic cases in general, which also apply to this one.

Firstly, what about E.M. radiation? I remember years back manufacturers used to check emissions carefully to make sure they abided by various EU and US regulations. In a non-metal case, you are going to get mejor leakage.

My other question is about drive cooling. Most HDs rely on being passivly cooled by the metal case to some degree. When people have tried reducing noise by suspending drives in mid air they notice the temperature rise by anywhere from 5 to 10 degrees. A non-metal case won't carry heat away as well either...

Just some thoughts. It sure does look nice though :)

On the HDD heat front, I'm sure that the intake fans blow over the drives, cooling them.

We've had the EMI discussion a few times in previous acrylic case reviews... have a browse around the main site to see what we think :)

As for hdd heat, I didn't test in this case, but the sunbeam acrylic case kept the hdd just a few degrees above ambient (which was a fair whack cooler than the CM CoolDrive3 could manage when I tested it).

    Cheers,

    Rob.
