Anyone else got it? I think it's pretty good, same thing as before, but not exactly the same.

Plot premise is the king tore a black hole into the sky with his super powered tennis serve and it gobbled up all the stars so you have to go and replace them all over again.

There's a few nice changes, like when you do a request it won't simply be, make a katamari this big, you'll have a theme to go for, like sweets, toys or japanese things, makes things more interesting. You get a score out of 100 at the end depending on how well you did, a big katamari means more points, but you have to go with the theme too.

Also online play which is cool, gonna have to check it out soon.

Knowing absolutely nothing about this game.... that has to be the weirdest game description I ever read. I'm sorry but: WTF?

Edit: OOOOHHHHHH, it's the rolly rolly game. I get it now.

I'm writing a review as we speak. I got delayed when my PC blew up. For the third time.

This time it was because of the Lian Li PC P80. Kept shorting the mother out. On the plus side, now I have a new desk.

They did themes in the last game on PS2 IIRC.

Yeah but they never really gave it to you as an objective before, it was mainly just for a bit of information on what you rolled up. Now you get more points depending on what you roll up.

I played the demo a while back and eh? It seems like a silly and pointless game just rolling other things and get bigger. Graphics where a bit poor and looked like a gamcube game, didnt think it looked beautiful :). Im sure it will apeal to kids as their are not many kiddy games on the 360 if you compare it to a wii.

Edge seemed... concerned about this game. I'm a huge fan of We Love Katamari (never got the chance to play the original), but the magazine's concerns seem to focus on the fact that the developer may have muddied the waters with the inclusion of themes, etc. I'm expecting to love it though, as far as I could see the demo seemed to be more of the brilliant fun I had with the PS2 game.

Yeah that's what I thought. Hopefully it'll hurt my hands less to play it on the 360 though. Played it for hours and hours and hours on the ps2, so when I got the psp version I was gutted that it was too painful to play for very long :(
QFT. Clearly he's never experienced the joy that is walking down the road thinking "that cat is smaller than me, I could roll it up..." :D

Tim speaks the truth - bit-tech is closing down for a couple of days next week while Tim and Joe complete the game :p

Played it on rental a while back... I thought the controls were frustratingly unresponsive and that the king was an ass ("Why don't you not suck so much next time" and stuff along those lines). Given all I'd heard about Katamari, I had expected more. Gameplay should have been a lot more fun than it was. I'm tempted to grab the older PS2 version on the cheap though.

I loved the second game on the ps2. Wish this game was out on the pc. Its nice to see games that dont follow the traditional styles.

I remember accidentally spending an hour or so reading the descriptions of the items in the collection, some of them are real gems.

I've just started playing this and my first impression was Eh? WTF? but am slowly becoming hooked. How long my interet will last who knows but seems like fun anyways.

Thought that it played like a clunky version of the PS2 games. Clearly the speedy roll technique is not well suited to analogue sticks that are offset. I think the rubbishness of the PS2 sticks actually works in favour of Katamari rolling. Regardless, my housemate's bought it so I will undoubtedly nick it at some point and have a blast I'm sure.

I didn't really have a problem with the analogue sticks not being at the same level, what I like about this being on the 360 is there's no loading breaks halfway through a level. Those were a bit annoying on the PS2.
