Its just that with say, 3As at advanced higher, you'll pretty much be the most highly qualified pre-uni person, and I can't see why they wouldn't accept you. Personally, I don't think exam results at that level matter too much though (I think pretty much anyone could get all As if they went the right way about it), but thats how it seems to go.

I matriculate for Glasgow on Friday. Will probably check out one of the Unions at night.

I've got 3 A's and a C in my SYS's (older versions of Advanced higher) and I didn't even get to sit a STEP paper. My friend got 3 A's (Physics, Maths, and Chemistry) and he failed his STEP paper. The problem isn't that they don't regard Scottish qualifications as inferior, but that their entrance papers are on different topics to what they teach in scottish courses!

OT: dude - you still in Canterbury or have you gone back up yet?

edit: you get the same amount of ucas points for advanced highers as alevels... why would three As get you in... a lot in cambridge have 5 As at Alevel... there are only a few exceptions like moi!

You'll be glad to know the guy I know at catz doing compsci is a top bloke, did my electronics practicals with him. He is scottish so I assume he's got advanced highers, so it goes to show they aren't totally biased against Scots!

    Alaric.

yeh, been in cant for a few weeks, being reclusive :p

neeeeeeed to go pubbing before you go back

Yeah but to do the Advanced Higher you need to have done the normal Higher too, and you get points for both. I'm pretty sure an A at higher plus an A at Adv. Higher is "worth more" in UCAS points than an A at A level.

Mind you, I might be talking crap! ;-)

None of my offers were given in points!
I got rejected from Cambridge but wasn't too suprised, it was from Corpus Christi and everyone else was doing 4-5 A levels and I was only doing 3. My room was awful! I had to sleep wearing two sweaters. :brrr:
I think i would have rejected if I had an offer as it was just too small, only about 4-5 people doing comp sci in first year :eeek:

DaSuperFly - this is getting seriously weird. I lived on Westwood... if you end up in my old room I'm going to be scared. I lived in Knightcote Halls, Room K002.

Naah Westwood isn't that far away from campus, it's like a 10 min walk max. Take a bike and you're there in 2 mins. It sucks for 9 o clock lectures, but if you're going to the comp sci building it's about as near as going from Rootes. God help you tho if you have to go the the Gibbet Hill, actual 30 mins+ walk. :eeek:

You won't know what halls you're in until you get there, but most of Westwood is nice and freshly decorated. My room was yellowey- trust me it's better than magnolia. :sigh:

One thing they don't tell you when you go is how good the student cinema at warwick is... you get all the new filsm about 4 weeks after they've been realeased for £1.50 when you join the soc, and it's shown in a huge lecture theatre (L3- you'll be in there loads) with awesome surround sound. They have this massive **** off sub which they drag out for films :D

Ps: If you do end up in Knightcote say hello to Joy (the hall tutor) for me... I'll never forget the night we took all the stuff out of a guys room (including bed and curtains) and she made me put it all back. It wasn't even me ! Also check out the website I never got round to finishing : www.knightcote-hall.co.uk

nope you only get points for the advanced higher, and u dont have to have a higher award to do advanced highr. me mate did advanced highr maths after failing higher maths, ok he failed advanced higher aswell but thats not the point.

dont know what ucas points u get for an a-level but i believe its 120 ish for an advanced higher A.

Dont suppose ne1 here is going to strathclyde uni?

I presume you'd get the points for a higher you didn't take on to advanced, like if you did a french higher but didn't take it to adv'd.
Bit like As and A2 levels I suppose.

They get the exact same points

    Alaric.
