I was just on my comp, and it crashed, im like w/e prob windows it never happens anyway. When I restart, msn wont sign it, it says im behind a firewall, i check all my internet settings, everything seems fine (except i dont have a gateway :blah: ) then i try to go into IE and i get page cannot be displayed. Any ideas? I tried turning off xp firewall and zonealarm and no go. Net works fine on this comp.

    Thanks, death_star

Right click on your network connection (found by going to "Network Connections" in Control Panel) and click Properties.

When the Properties box appears, click on "TCP/IP" in the list of connection items and click on the Properties button below it.

It should be set to Obtain an IP Address Automatically on the top section, and Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically on the bottom section. Continue clicking OK until you're back at Control Panel. You might need to restart.

    See if it works ;)

Go to Start > Run - type CMD and hit Enter.

Type "ipconfig /all" in the DOS box that appears and take a screenshot and post that in here.

    Hmmmm, strange.

Have you tried replacing the Ethernet Adapter?

Actually, try uninstalling the drivers removing the NIC from the PCI slot, starting the machine back up, shutting it back down, replacing it, and restarting again.

Then reinstall the drivers if you need to.

It's important that you delete the old drivers completely though.
