Yep he did, but he needed 5.4GHz to do it! His x86 score was (a comparatively measly) 22K at the same clock speed. The big deal here is efficiency per core as Bindi pointed out, and I'm noticing some serious numbers from the newer hardware - e.g. Deders smashed 5K single core score compared to my paltry effort at just over 3K. Very nice indeed! It is worth noting that the "old" Geekbench scores are around 7% lower than current Geekbench scores due to changes in the software. I get about 16.5K on version 2 but closer to 18K on version 3. I recon if I throw my Dominator GT back in my rig and crank up the memory clock and uncore speeds, I'd be in the 19K-20K range.
No one said it was a competition for those that wanted second lol. I know my current rig would not even break 10k. (i7950 6gb ram all at stock ) As I said Id expect to see somebody break 40k after 3 years. Dout there will be a huge difference between the AMD cpu released then and the AMD cpu now ( think its the same cpu for high end usage FX 8350 ) Intel have drove the efficiency curve which is fine and dandy but also boring. Old thread true gamer and 2 others pushed each other to crazy clock speeds for the fastest score was fun to see.
I was really chuffed with my score on the i5 2500k back in the day, managed a 5.3GHz OC on air. I ended up only being pipped by people who could OC their RAM more then me. It was alot of fun tho.
Ran it on my main pc, with my cpu at stock because the H100i can barely cool my cpu at stock speed never mind overclock, even after replacing the TIM and remounting it etc the temps are still in the high 60's low 70's. 16110
@Big Elf, nice score at 4.4GHz. What speed is your uncore at with 2000MHz memory? I had to run my 990X at 5.1GHz and uncore at over 4GHz to get a similar score in GB 2. Yep they all had similar SB-E rigs so there wasn't much in it. In fact, if you look at the top five scores, they all have the same motherboard LOL.
I'll be honest, I just use Auto for the uncore. It's on x21, 3000GHz for 4.4GHz (143x31). I can get this chip to 5.2GHz but it needs 1.55v for that so don't bother anymore. I use it mainly with Handbrake and find that 4.4GHz gives good results balancing vcore and temps with encoding speed.

I think I had to use around 1.6v to run Geekbench at 5.1GHz with the 990X. 3000MHz on the uncore will limit memory performance a lot, but if it's a good compromise in terms of temps/performance then that's great. Running high uncore frequency really heats up X58 chips, even if the voltage is low. I'm not sure what my X5650 is capable of in terms of uncore but I'll see what I can do. EDIT: ok, so I had to drop the uncore multi to x19 for the PC to boot... the Xeon simply will not run the uncore at x20, thanks to the BIOS not having the complete microcode. Even so, I got the uncore pretty close to 4GHz so there'll be a huge boost in memory throughput. I'm using the UD7 now with latest BIOS (FD), which might be better for OC than the USB3. CPU 209x22 = 4.62GHz UNC 209x19 = 3.99GHz RAM 2100MHz 8-8-8-24 19173 Single core performance has also gone up a fair bit for such a small increase in frequency, so the memory must have a lot to do with that.

That is really interesting. The only reason I have a higher score is because of the extra cores, and even then it's still very close. Skylake destroys the memory performance of the overclocked X58 system. It'd be interesting to see what your memory performance looks like in AIDA 64. I did a quick memory bench before running Geekbench (always do) and I broke 20K in read, which is very high for X58. Most of this is down to the uncore running at almost 4GHz.
Skylake really does benefit from higher memory bandwidth. Amazed at both your overclock and L3 latency.
Well after reading the above posts on uncore and memory, I found it very interesting indeed and decided to make a few tweaks with my settings. I've had a go at increasing the uncore and tightening the ram settings. I've managed to get the ram timings from 17-18-18-36 1T to 15-15-15-34 1T The uncore was originally set on auto, but I've managed to get it running at a multiplier of 36 (the CPU is running with a multiplier of 37). Can't get the uncore fully synched with the CPU just yet. Anyway, it's given a boost to my score considering the CPU is still the same, which I'm pretty pleased about. 33747 I've only got the trial version of Aida64, but this is what you can see for the ram:
Only have my lappy with me at the moment. Lenovo Y50, i7 4710HQ 11819 Once I head back to my ol desky I might crank her up to the old geekbench thread settings and try for some bigger numbers. Fun times indeed. Slightly nerveracking as well with some of the voltages people were throwing through their CPUs.
Well that's just ridiculous!! Not sure if it applies to X99 but people over at Overclock.net are recommending keeping Skylake cache's just below the clock speed.
I remember when it was a big deal to break 12K read with Core 2 Duo systems running DDR2! Almost 80K memory read... insane!
Thanks for the heads up on running the uncore just below, I'll look into this some more as mine wont even boot if I set the same uncore multiplier as the CPU one. I agree, touching 80k memory read is insane. If I get chance this week, I'm going to see how much more I can get out of it. It's not fully stable with this uncore yet, need to do some more tweaking and see which voltages I need to adjust. What's frustrating is that there is not set rule on the uncore on this board as to the three adjustable voltages - one bit of information I found from an Asus rep says start at this, then try more and then try less. This CPU appears to be fine @ 4.6ghz on 1.325v, but even 1.4v wasn't enough to get it to fully complete geekbench at 4.75ghz. I'm not too worried about temps, with the rad fans on 40% speed it's only just hitting 60deg on a couple of cores. To be honest though, Im a tad nervous of sticking loads of voltage through this chip. Still, it's good fun giving this a go.
