Will bit tech be doing a review of this screen? Looks unbelieve, no vesa mount thou Any one else spotted this screen. I am losing my quad screen soon, not much of a loss a 19inch 1280x1024, so yeah Ill def be getting a 24" soon.
A 24" VA panel for £175? Sounds promising. Screen Size 24"W(LED) Aspect Ratio 16:9 Resolution (max.) 1920x1080 Pixel Pitch (mm) 0.276 Brightness ( typ.) 250 cd/㎡ Contrast ( typ. ) 3000:1 DCR (Dynamic Contrast Ratio) (typ.) 20M:1 Panel Type VA Viewing Angle (L/R;U/D) (CR>=10) 178/178 Response Time(Tr+Tf) typ. 25ms, 8ms (GtG) The first budget screen in ages that's not a crappy TN panel. Should sell well. Those contrast figures are obviously nonsense though. I'm dubious about white LED back lighting though.
sorry for the bump but this monitor needs a bit tech review. Just reading the comments over at trusted review and is this a good comment? TrustedPhrontis These 1920 by 1080 monitors are fine for HD viewing, that is what they are for after all. They are almost useless as computer monitors, far to much vertical scrolling involved. The old 1600 by 1200 (4:3) in 21" were the best combination, I use an old Dell LCD and its brilliant with most work. I also use a 1920 by 1200 24" Dell as well, and I would rather it was 1920 by 1440 or (4:3) but I dont know if anyone makes one. I know I can rotate the screen but a 1200 by 1920 doesn't work very well either for some things so you are constantly rotating it, a real pain. Please bring back 4:3 in high resolutions 2560 by 1920 in 27" for instance. Any one have any thing to say, in perticular regarding getting three of them for a home desk poker /internet / ARMA 2 terminal ?
Silly comment. We're comparing it to other monitors in teh same price range, and they will also be 1920x1080. As to whether you like 1080 screens or not, is not an issue with THIS monitor, but a general preference. It doesn't affect whether THIS is a good monitor or not. 1080 isn't brilliant in terms of vertical res, no, but if you want more, then you can have more. You just have to pay more.
People should just stop complaining. I never liked 1920x1080 so I got 2560x1600, but I don't complain about lower rez monitors. I am very happy I don't have to use my old 15" CRT. The monitor is a A-MVA panel so its going to kick TN ass in pretty much everything except a few ms of response time.
Agreed. I have a A-MVA panel here with my little NEC 19" as my PS Tools 2nd screen, and it's way better than TN. For this price range, we should be thankful that there are manufacturers still willing to produce low cost VA panels. Lately, it's been a sea of TN depression in this price range, and VA panels have been the reserve of high end stuff. It's about time VA made a reappearance at the lower end, as it has advantages over IPS for some uses.
Are there any quality monitors @ 1920x1200 res that are close to this price point or are the phrases "quality", 1920x1200" and "close to this price point" mutually exclusive?
Wow that really isn't too bad a monitor, especially for £175. If I wasn't so obsessed with owning a completely unreachable Dell U2711 I might well get this, but I can't really justify the smallish jump from a 22" 1680x1050. It looks incredibly slim though.
Some... but not many, and to be honest, I can't recall any less than £200 actually. This BenQ is the only VA panel at this price however, which should make it a great seller. It all depends how many people realise this, as most people in the market for screens at this price are suckers for response time figures, and greatly exaggerated contrast figures. Those who know, will love this screen.
Okay, one last thread hijack question then... ...what is the highest quality 1920x1200 monitor under £200 for someone who isn't into gaming? I have a budget build to do soonish where the person will be doing a lot of text work (he is a bibliophile). He will be using it for movies as a secondary use and any form of gaming will probably restricted to farmville or solitaire at most. I've managed to convince him to invest in a good monitor but he still has a limited budget.
b****r, thanks anyway mate, I'll post a build thread once I get confirmation of his requirements and budget so I will ask for more advice on this subject at a later date. He may have to make do with 1920x1080 so the BenQ VW2420H may be a contender. Apologies to OP for thread hijack.
It's all relevant.. not really a hi-jack. Besides, I don't know THAT much about that end of the market, so someone may know if there is one or not that I'm not aware of.
