Couldn't figure out a better forum to post this in Bang & Olufsen BeoCenter 2 Just thought you all should see this, its a piece of art (and it should be at $4,100!!).
To be honest, Most B&O stuff sounds very average to me, they look good but cost way too much for the sound. It is the same with BOSE, they are lifestyle systems which cost the earth but perform like cheap computer systems. There are hundreds of systems you could put together far cheaper that would eclipse them is sound quality, loudness and depth.
It's pretty darn cool. The kind of thing you'd expect from B&O. BUT, the next person that says "think outside the box" is going to get screamed at incoherently.
I agree it is a silly design but no audio equipment should ever have have other hardware stacked on top of it. Audio kit often gets hot, ventilation out the top and sides is very important. It is recommended in most manuals that you give amplifers have 10 cm ventilation per side. Remember. a) Overheating will reduce amplifier lifetime. b) Overheating can trip the thermal protection in the ampilfier.
OMG, not B&O. It is a fact that they don't even make most of the components and circuitboards in B&O products, and frankly they sound awful compared to reference Hi-Fi stuff. I doubt I have seen an audio purist own B&O kit, they really suit the Delboy Trotter crowd.
Yes, but if you use a rack with shelves every 6" or so and a component on each one, you would need to have full access to the top of this, nstead of fully front accessible like most other components.
I see what you were tring to say now, it would have been clearer to say *rack* not *stack* erlier it dends to give the wrong idea. I Absolutly agree rackmounting is definatly a good way to go.
B&O is just like Bose as micb said...loooks nice, but its a lifestyle rather then a hifi system, cause just like many enthusiast, or people who spend way to much money on a hifi, i think their systems usually sound pants!...well not completly crap but nothing special... the only nice thing about it is they way they have weird features that work out nicely...friends of ours in germany have on, where whichever room in the house you walk into, an ir sensor picks it up and the music gets redirected to the speakers in that room...music wherever you go
I think it looks hideous. Completely unnecessary opening mechanism - it's simply trying too hard. I'd much rather a simple silver box with a standard cd tray and one or two buttons from a 'proper' hi-fi company.
I would disagree with you on this one, expensive systems are generally better. And I only say "generally" because therre is an exception, Bose.
I have a pair of the earphone from B&O, they cost me about £80 and are about the best small earphones I have ever heard. Nearly all the ones I have tried in the past have sounded a little tinny and light, not these, they cope with bassy stuff really well. I see B&O almost like the Macs of HiFi, look great, work well, cost a lot and have a fanatical following. Still want to get one of the mp3 players though, may be small and have no screen but damn! they look nice. My wallet ain't going to like it though
