    So?

Currently on 512meg Zen here, but my dad wants to move to a meg service. I use pipex 1meg in manc. and its very good, im tempted to recommend it to him but im just asking if anyone else has anything they'd recommend? Service and uptime is a definate plus over uber-cheapness. Also it absolutely must be an unlimited service. ;)

Got a 1.2meg wanadoo line, a tad bit faster than 1meg at £27.99, supposed to be a 30gig monthly limit, but I don't think there really is.

Just a note, BT is planning to allow 2meg connections all over the country in March.

EDIT: Just remembered, Blueyonder 1meg I think is £25, not sure about limits though.

I'll vouch for Pipex, cannot fault them :D Wanadoo tend to offer faster services but with bandwidth limits.

Checked BlueY - N/A in our area
Checked Karoo - N/A in our area
    Checked Pipex - £34
    Checked Zen - £35
Checked Wannado - limits to their service

I use High Velocity's 1meg service. I think it's about 30 a month but you get a really personal service. 250meg of webspace, no caps, decent speeds. I've never had any problems but there's 24x7 free phone support.

I've been on Zen in the past and I'm on Pipex atm and I'd definitely say Pipex was the better choice. The pricing/features are pretty much the same but I remember having a few stability problems with Zen with some downtime, but Pipex has been plain sailing since I got it.

I haven't really got any recommendations, but more a warning.
Please, do NOT go with bulldog broadband. It hasn't been mentioned yet but it's cheap so a lot of people (like me) would go for it. We've had a load of down time, problems with connection speed and long waiting times for basic customer support. They're really bad at pretty much everything.... :grr:

    1meg service from www.fast24.net is £27.50/month
The only problem i've had was they took ages to set things up when I moved home, but since then no problems, and I always get a fast connection.

Customer support is limited, but you don't really need too much in the way of customer support for a net connection..

512k is considered fast here, 2meg is excessive to the industry in Britain. 8meg would be very nice. Ive been on 10Meg up/down in Uni and that was incredible - i could run a solid server off it and play games on the same line with no bandwidth issues.

    Another pipex vote tbh...
Run a 1mb here at uni, and it never drops, always fast...
Have 512 pipex @ home and again great service... housemate also has pipex at home and has no problems (spot any recurring pattern ;))

try googling for broadbandguide (I can't use any search engines to locate the correct address for some strange reason) They've got a list of most of the UK boradband packages/costs and also and links to the websites.

I was going to go with Bulldog, but saw the list of problems they were suffering fromlisted on that site, so I didn't bother.

edit: I've managed to get google to run, I've edited the link above.
Edit 2: Link was incorrect, should have been to ADSL Guide. :thumb:

i would go for blueyonder 1mb service......i have their 2mb service but compared to the others telewest blueyonder are technically the baest cause they have a NAT firewall as well as some other type of incryption on their servers which means its safer than other and you get 5 email boxes each with 3 alias's and some personal web space (think its about 50mb)

    Blueyonder is cable.

I would go for plusnet, been great for me, good webspace, good support, good newsgroup access (although not using their servers anymore), good reliablity, great email communication (let you know when they require payment, when its been taken etc).

    Just damn good service really.
