I'm running my old desktop, and would like to add an interface in front of Windows XP home. It's been a long time since I looked at 3rd party interfaces, so what would you now recommend? I have a 3rd party Media center remote, and an Antec 'Veris' infra red receiver. I'm looking at all options (except OS upgrade)
XBMC if not after TV tuner use, I use it on 2 original xbox's and my PC, it's that good it converted a non believer and his parents to use it due to the ease of it and the varied skins worth a try
+1 to all recommendations for XBMC. The only flaw is the lack of TV Tuner support, but other than that it's a brilliant piece of software.
xbmc it is now, easiest to use and it works out of the box. just need to get it to read *.wtv only solution (so far) is to convert to *.dvr-ms (right click *.wtv and select convert to *.dvr-ms) any advice? how to automate, or change the default recording format in windows 7 ?
Best answer I've been able to find is here: http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=37390 It appears that FFmpeg (the codec engine behind XBMC) does not yet support the WTV format (see here for list of FFmpeg supported codecs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FFmpeg#Codecs). I've found some info on batch conversion of WTV to DVR-MS: http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/com...te-batch-file-convert-recorded-tv-dvr-ms.html
