what is the best 6800 ultra, i dont care about the heatsink or if it comes overclocked because i will be watercooling it and overclocking it myself. BFG or eVGA? Ultra? Extreme Edition? Ive even heard there are 2.0ns boards floating around. what it the best one? I need an answer. Is straight 6800 Ultra the best bet?

:thumb: Ultra Extreme should be the best bet, but good luck finding and affording one as IMHO they were clearly only produced for the benchmarks rather than as a viable attainable consumer product (ie Ultra Extreme-ly desperate). I doubt there will be much diff at all between diff manu's Ultras. I would suggest you check out the 6800GT though, esp as you intend to o/c.

yea i agree, a 6800GT is a more viable solution in terms of overclocking and they r so much easier 2 find

NVIDIA have never actually released 6800Ultra Extreme ;)

But the Gainward Golden Sample is clocked at 450/1200 from what I understand

Aye. I had 2 Ti4200s which were great and got to play with a FX5900 last year. All top cards.

There have been a few cards from BFG, eVGA, and Gainward clocked 450-475MHz core available online at times, but I don't think you can find them anymore.

Actually they have been released. But there are so few units being produced and such a high demand that you have to enter a drawing just to buy the dang thing. You can enter for one by eVGA linky They cost $549.90 [USD]
:hehe: They sell 20 units everymonth or so

its only a normal ultra that has been tested and works at the higher speeds, identical to the ultra, just clocks better

no different to the gainward golden sample or BFG OC cards

6800Ultra Extreme was only sent to a couple of websites world wide, as it's an idea of the maximum clocks that a 6800Ultra can achieve with good yield. As far as NVIDIA are concerned, the Ultra Extreme is never mentioned, and it will never be released in any volume.
