    Generally speaking no.

The small clock speed bump isn't worth the extra outlay as both processors have unlocked multiplers. The MSI870A-G54 (I have the same board) would be able to clock both to around 4GHz dependant of course on the chip itself. The 965 *may* clock a bit further but not anything to write home about.

    Pretty much.

The 250 will be holding but not by much if it highly clocked.
Games are starting to take advantage of 4 cores now though so its a worth upgrade.

Whats res are you playing at? I dont think that 8600gt is doing much.
Since 260s are going for about 60 pounds or less now it might be worth selling you 9800gt and 8600 gt and buying one or else a second hand 460GTX 786mb for about 90 pounds.

I found a huge improvement with frames per second and general smoothness in games with my 9800GTX+ (SLI but nearly double the pixels @1680x1050 so you won't need the extra scaling) when I upgraded from an athlon64x2 to my i5 750, so I'd expect you'd get the same kind of improvement from a CPU with more resources at it's disposal, like cache and cores.

If you're on such a tight budget, why on earth do you spend all the cash on the Kühler? Doesn't make sense to me.

955 is a noticeable upgrade from Athlon 250 and being Black Edition it can be easily pushed to higher clocks without touching anything else.

Overall thought you should DEFINITELY list all your hardware and HW-related questions and problems to a single thread so it would be possible to give an overall answer. Now you've cluttered the forum with a number of threads that alone don't seem to make much sense at all. It's just frustrating to even try to give the right answers to all this stuff.

Ok so here are a couple of questions:
    1. What's the rest of the hardware?
    2. What kind of performance are you after?
    3. What are your next upgrade plans and when are they due?

Those three should get us somewhere.

I don't want to be a dick right now, I just feel terrible about advising anyone into spending £100 on a CPU if really it's something else that would make them more good. I hope the threads just seem random, but better be safe..
