Kingston? OCZ? Corsair? Kingmax? Mushkin? Im looking to get either some PC3500 or PC3700 ram for my DFI NFII Ultra B Mobo and Barton 3200+ Proc
too hard to answer in one thread. use the search theres loads of info on the boards already, you just have to find it. look out for BH-5
There is no real "best" brand of RAM, it's more about the chips that they use. BH-5 is still king for tight timings and high FSBs, but pretty much unavailable unless you want to pay dearly for second-hand. Brand doesn't really matter, though the Kingston and OCZ offerings have performed slightly better overall. OCZ have got some very nice looking RAM in their EB range, and OCZ and Corsair have both just announced new RAM based on Samsung chips that'll do the same timings as BH-5 at 200FSB. If you read around you'll see a lot of discussion about RAM at the moment, the market is changing a lot right now, but BH-5 is still the current leader.
Basically Kam has said it all, the EB series from OCZ is probably the best bet if you are looking for new ram, but it may be worth waiting to see how the new low latency modules perform when tests (other than lab tests) start to emerge. If you can find some BH5 on ebay/ new at a good price, then this is a good combo for the infinity/lanparties as they allow up to 3.3v on vdimm, and the BH5 chips scale very well with voltage (check Kams sig, 262 FSB 2,2,2,11)
