Best CHEAP cooling for Athlon XP1800+

    im buying an Athlon XP1800+ and i need to know what would be best for cooling it. i dont have much money, so it needs to be really cheap. any suggestions?

    i have a globalwin wbk something or another that cost about £20 and the fan that comes with it is very similar to a 60mm delta, this was to loud for me so i got an adapter and put a 80mm on it.

    I guess no one rates the akasa icicles then :blah:, have I bought a white elephant? :sigh:

    The basic icicles are fine, but they're just like any other generic extruded Alu heatsink really. The Taisol is a step up, with a copper insert.

    im thinking about getting this, on their website it says that its rated to 1.5ghz for T-birds, but on the offical site for it, it says that its rated for: AMD Athlon:
    XP 2100+, 2000+, 1900+, 1800+, 1700+, 1600+, 1500+
    should i get it?

    dont get it....it aint very good as a heatsink...

    u must be able to get the taisol 760 in the states....put a nice fan on that and ull get nice temps....my mates got one on his xp1800+ and he gets 38max...

    nuff said....:D

    Yes, that is what we're talking about. TT heatsinks are plain rubbish in my experience, and plenty here agree with that. Also might want to check out the Volcano 7's listing in my dangerous heatsink thread.

    i read that. this is a volcano 6+ is it the same as the volcano 7?

    how about a big 2 foot by 2 foot lump of alu held on with duct tape? works fine for me :D i have an akasa hsf on my xp1600+, whenit's o/ced to xp1800+ is gets max of about 37, it's 32 degrees now when it's at 1600+ speeds :) oh it has as2 on it too

    my experience with tt is that they look good but are crap at cooling...so u gotta choose wether u want it to cool or to look good....or save up money for and alpha and itll do both:D :lol:
