guess im one of the few N64 lovers, it was my first console aaa the days of Super Mario and Banjo Kazooie & Golden Eye
But the OG Metal Gears were on NES and if it weren't for the succes of the NES versions we wouldn't have the newest three to play... I voted NES/Snes. NES for the greatest RPG's ever (The Dragon Warrior series and the first few Final Fantasy's). Also, The first Legend of Zelda, how can you beat that?? The NES was the home console that revived the gaming slump of the 80's. Arcades were lacking and the NES came through. I still have a working one and kept my fav games from it and sold the others I didn't want. Still, I have around 100 games for my NES even after selling over 2/3 of what I had. NES all the way baby!
the snes was an awesome machine and kept me going for years when i was younger and still does now when i visit my retro mates pad. but the ultimate console ever for me, was the playstation. it might have been to do with me having well over 180 games for it and spending all my money on the thing from day one to the end of having it. it was just fantastic, it holds all of the memorable gaming moments for me. gran turismo resident evil tekken 2 and many more landmark gaming scenarios too.
N64 for ever! i remember the first time i played goldeneye on it....i couldn't use the controller properly so when i shot someone it always ended up being in the kneecap so then they fall on the floor and kinds creep towards you a bit an then just die...it was sooo funny
Has anyone seen the goldeneye: Source mod for Half-Life 2?? Not a console game, but goldeneye in the source engin looks insane....
Likewise, the Speccy. That was a computer, not a console. You may as well add a Cray to the list as well whilst we're at it. My favourite: probably the PS1. The most important: probably the Atari 2600 and its ilk. The grand-daddy of them all.
because people are complete fanboys have soo much faith in these next generation consoles they might aswell be in the list.
I vote for the Atari VCS system... it was the forerunner of all modern consoles probably, and was ahead of its time in the 70s. In a way, the AMiga 600 was almost a console because of it's simplicity... only having relations and sharing an OS with the bigger amigas such as the 3000 and 4000 made it a real computer. I had a A4000 BTW.. I had that until i built my first PC in 1995. I often wonder what would have happened if Commodore had marketed the Amiga properly.
Playstation. The games console that made me really excited, week in, week out, nearly a decade ago. Sure I cherish the memories of the Snes, NES, and the Xbox... but the Playstation is the one that really changed things. Playing stuff like Resident Evil, Tekken, and Wipeout 2020 for the first time will probably be never bettered imho.
PS2 for me. SNES was a bit before my time (i wasn't into consoles until the PSX came along). PSX was also awesome, but Gran Turismo 3 on the PS2 really made me
I hate to rule out the SNES, NES, Mega-drive and other classics, but it simply has to be the PS2 for me, simply because of the number of absolutely unbelievable games. It's taken console gaming to a completely new level. GT4, the GTA's, MGS 3, Ace Combat 4, Dropship, Timesplitters, the list goes on and on and on, but to be frank, it's bloody fantastic.
I voted PlayStation 1 because it revolutionised home 3D gaming - but I was sorely tempted to go for the Mega Drive as well, because it was the first console I ever had. Oh, Streets of Rage 2... just not as good on an emulator
I voted N64, as it was the first console I owned, and I loved it. Goldeneye, Super Smash Bros, The World Is Not Enough, Donkey Kong 64, Super Mario 64, (Pokemon Snap *runs*), Kirby: Crystal Shards, and the best of them all: Zelda: Ocarina of Time. So many good games
