There's something wrong if idle is hitting 80°C. If you're using the stock cooler make sure all the pushpins are correctly inserted.

    what he said

frio still 1 of the best coolers for 1366 platform ( air )

    or an h60 corsair ( water )

£30 frio ( requires alot of clearence to fit ( full tower cases only really )

£55 for h60 ( can fit in any pc )

As everyone else is saying there something wrong if thats idle and it not OC.

Mine 930 @ STOCK 2.8 at idle is 35-40 with a corsair H80, what are you using for the thermal read out maybe an error?

I would make sure the cooler properly seated and maybe reapply some TIM.

Even if you have a stock cooler should not see temp that high unless your ambient is like 100C....

I use a Thermalright Ultra Extreme with a gentle typhoon on it and my idle temps are always around 35-40. Ok so I am not running it overclocked at the mo but still, does the job for me.

Only problem I have is that the fan overhangs the first memory slot so I am a little limited on upgrading until I change for a smaller/water cooler.

I use an aging corsair H50 with 2 x akasa apache blacks. My i7 is overvoltaed and clocked @ 3.8 and my idle temps are between 38-43.

80c :jawdrop: I've used a T.R.U.E and the Corsair H70 and a the newer H80 and not even on prime 95 have any of my 17's hit those temps, Definitely something wrong there

You running the stock cooler? If so I wonder if one of the push pins are buggered, means there would be F*uck all mounting pressure on the cpu.

If you have the money go for a Noctua NH-D14, just make sure you don't have tall ram.

or there's the dark rock advanced http://www.scan.co.uk/products/be-q...5-1155-1156-1366-2011-am2-am2plus-am3-754-940

or if you just want to keep temps under control, and don't want to do any overclocking, but are on a really limited budget, there is the

I think a better cheap alternative would be the Arctic i30 trashcanman :)

CPC did a review on it and it actually performed better than the Dark Rock Advanced :)

Unfortunately though, it only supports 115, 1156 and 2011 :(
