I want to compile a list of the best deathmatch maps for any game on any platform and the reasons why they play so well. Im not looking for the best looking maps made just the lay out and ease of navigation. I have made a few maps for various games over the past coupple of years and keep finding my self refencing the usual great maps (Q3DM6, Dust, Q3tourney4, Deck16-17). ta :)

Myscha's Deck-16 is an awesome level...I got hooked with the original Unreal, and even today on UT2K4 Teddys Deck-17 is still my favourite level.

I think the reason it works is that its got just the right number of clinch points for the map size...you tend to have conflagrations around the minigun spawn, the constant fight round the rocket launcher spawn, and the "get the sniper" on the top platform. Teddy's changes in Deck-17 have got rid of the dead ends (flak cannon spawn could be camped to death from the other end of the corridor in Deck-16) and generally sped up the flow, which suited the faster pace of 2K4. There is a bit of the map to suit every weapon, and every style of play.

Only downside to Deck-16 is the number of poor clones its had.

Another stunning UT level is Morpheus for the original UT...doesn't work as well with later versions becuase of the double-jump. The original had perfect distance on all the buildings, making every jump a real nail-biter between being effective in the air and plunging to your doom.

is there any particular game where talking about?

i play alot of mohaa and the best laid out map would need to be southern france for DM/TDM

some good maps in other games

to make a good map, have a central area where you cant get lost easy, make it so u can find your way around the map from the centre section :thumb:

Thats what I'm looking for :) thx, I realy hate the way most maps now are trying to show off graphics and artistic quality over structure and flow. I remember buying ut2003 and being realy dissapointed with the ampunt of maps that had pritty looking geometry that serves no over perpose than to snag you when your trying to back off from another player!

(edit) No perticular game just anything first person :)

UT : Deck-16 with rifles or instagib
    UT : DM Morpheus Instagib

Q3 : Cant remember the name, but its any of the floating ones in space, again only instagib

Those are the only games worth playing deathmatch on.
Still play them from time to time..

What was the name of the map in Q2...Edge? It had a long ledge, great for railgun shots.
