I'm just looking for some input - I've played around a good bit with OSCommerce and ZenCart (a derivitive), but it definately has some downsides. On one hand, it's fairly easy (albeit tedious) to add products and whatnot, and I definately like the end-user navigation of it. However I'm wondering if people have any thoughts as to what might be better to work with from a management point of view. In particular, the image manager is horrid, with no easy way to get multiple images up per item (and while it can be done through plugins, their code is absolutely gross to work with). My site is www.aquamods.com - it'll be my Aqua Computer reselling site if/when it gets off the ground. Anyone familiar with their product line should have a decent idea of what I'll be selling... I'd imagine somewhere around 100 products with quite a few options (color, fitting, mounting system, etc) on some. There's a good chance I'll be using 2CheckOut as a payment processor (though I might accept paypal, dunno), which does have it's own cart software, although it's fairly primitive as far as navigation goes (or was the last time I worked with them). I'd like to also be able to accept PayPal. I may not use 2CO, but I've used them in the past and was pretty satisfied. My webserver (powweb)'s instant installer also has phpShop, AgoraCart and CubeCart to work with, but obviously it's easy enough to just upload something else and install it. I'd prefer something free, obviously, but if there's a worthwhile pay-cart available, I'd definately consider it. I'm just looking for input on this... from a product management standpoint, I'm really just looking for decent support of multiple images and options (better yet, images that update when you choose the option). Payment is still up in the air, shipping will be primarily USPS (unless UPS or FedEx wanna give me free shipping materials too). If navigation is or can be similar to OSC/ZC, it's a plus, and obviously security is a biggie (especially if CC data can be kept on file) Beyond that, I don't care too much. Going by the demos of the others I listed, CubeCart (frontend, anyways) seems decent, AgoraCart downright gross and phpShop was unavailable. So, any thoughts?
From my personal point of view OScommerce is the best "free" e-shop cms on the net...logically it's free, so you can't expect an high professional panel but with if you want to create a professional layout and an easy panel there are a lots of plug-in and contributes...but it takes a long time work.
If your looking for a free cart, then osCommerce is by far the best option. If you have specific targets to be met which out-of-the-box software doesn't meet, then a custom solution is what you need.
I used osCommerce first, then zend cart, and now I'm settled on CubeCart It is free if you are willing to keep the "Powered by CubeCart" in the title, or $70 if you want to remove that. It is not open source, but it is written to take advantage of open source technology (PHP, MySQL, etc.). The reason I like it is it is the first valid XHTML/CSS based shopping cart I've found, which means changing the style is as easy as changing the CSS file. With almost nothing but CSS changes, I changed it from the default to this for a client. (He later decided not to sell clothing since he didn't realize all of the fees involved in becoming a licensed reseller, but I still have the shop there because I'm too lazy to delete it.) Another site with a dramatically different style can be found here And p.s. feel free to PM me about linux stickers if you want (mods: this is not the post you are looking for, you can go about your business)
wooo im seeing a double aqua computer site Dont make yours too much like the offical site... or is that OScommerce doing the work?
