In your opinion what was the best ever graphics card, not of modern times , but all the way back to the begining of APG, some of my list are:

    9800 Pro :baby:
    6800 Ultra :p
    X800 GTO2

and the biggest ever graphics card cock-up: :wallbash:

    X800XL (512 version)

    What your opinon

Best card ever imo was 9800pro... Still going now, 3+ years after it was launched..

Biggest flop, 5800U maybe? Though they're uber rare now...

I'd say best ever would be the 9700Pro...or the 9500np that could be often be modded to it. That architecture was the mother of all the ATi chips since.

Worst would definitely be the FX 5800 :hehe:

i agree with hilander on the 9800pro...im using mine right now...a wonderfull card...but also my suggestion would be the awesome Geforce4 Ti 4200 64meg version as it was faster than the 128meg version....and i still use mine now.

crappest card was the 5800U....with harley davidson sounding hsf.

The 9800Pro was probably (relatively) the best card to be released. Biggest flop... as others, have said, that great 5800 Ultra with its superb FlowFX cooling system. It really did sound like your PC was running from its own petrol generator :duh:

I have to agree, the 9800pro is a great card. Although the Riva TNT2 M64 holds a special place in my heart since it came w/ my first computer back in 98 or 99. Before that I was strictly a console guy.

DO any of you think anything of the new cards like a 7800 GTX 512 or a X1900XTX, or even the 7900 (or whatever its called)

Isn't a really bad card an ATI X850 Pro, i thought they had really bad glitches and didn't work properly, and that they were fairly noisey, and i also really like the ATi X800XL (256) i got one the day AMD brough out the X2 range, and it still plays any game on the highest settings at 1240 x 1080 (VX924) and plays BF2 at an averaGE OF OVER 68 fps (according to fraps)

The 7800GTX may be stupidly fast (for now) but it's only really an evolution of the previous generation. The X1800XT on the other hand had some pretty huge changes to the architecture of the previous generation, so maybe in a year or so that will be regarded as the best...the 9700 was a revolution, completely different to everything before. And that makes it great.

I'd say the Voodoo 3 was my favourite. It was great and it was only the lack of driver support in the end that meant I had to change it.

I'd probably have to say the original voodoo graphics acclerator, without which we'd all be running software rendering still ? Or perhaps Voodoo 2's with the original SLI .. :D
