Shot in the dark for a clear winner, but what in everyones opinions is the best game ever made? Ill start off by saying hands down Deus Ex, still play it today, with a big ninja smile on my face, and i bought it a week after it originally came out, probably finished it over 25 times now, and is still the most fun i've had on a pc
Impossible to say for me due to different feelings about different genre's but if i had to put one forward purely from time played then it's Final Fantasy 7.
Same method as Throbbi overall from Time played i'd go Civ IV Other Genres FPS: Tf2 (Also best free game) (Honorable mention UT99) Racing: Probably GTR2 but Rfactor 2 looks like it will take that crown when it is out. Strategy: Other than Civ IV i'd have to say Medieval 2 total war Open World: STALKER SHOC City Builder: Sim City 4 Not really into other genres enough to pass judgement. (That may apply to open world too.)
Based on hours put in... Arma 2 OA Fallout 3 Forza 3 LOTRO Saboteur (because I had to get every little dot!) Assassins Creed 2 Assassins Creed Brotherhood Based on pure enjoyment... Arma2 OA
Based on amount of time put in my most played is Modern Warfare 2 (over 40 days just on MP) but it is not the best game just what I enjoy playing with friends. My favourite game is Bioshock it's the only game I've ever wanted to go back through after completing it just to try a different way of playing and also the only game I've completed on more than one platform. Zelda OoT is another game that I've completed a few times and is worth a mention.
great shout! Thargoids were scary and docking was always fun! Also, the original pirates, turrican 2, monkey island, ik+ and street rod are all up there for me
For me it's got to be the original Half Life. It's the one game that kicked off my PC gaming (I played PSX etc a great deal, but never got to PC gaming) addiction, and no doubt, subconsciously, influenced me to do Physics because I wanted to be Gordon Freeman. It's not the best game ever - not as technically brilliant as some, and the story doesn't hold a candle to DE for example, but it was enough for me. Plenty of games out there are good contenders though: Zelda:Ocarina, DE, FF7, so many excellent games out there, but only a few rise to the top of the crop.
In terms of the one I have had most fun playing it has to be Mario Kart 64. Spent hours and hours on that with some buddies. For a game that I just thought 'wow, this is awesome': Mass Effect 2. Looks fantastic, great story, so on and so on
Original/Source CS - Spent many a year playing that till the wee hours of the morning on a school night!
It has to be Unreal Tournament for me, it's the game that really got me into pc gaming and even now I can sit down with some buddies and have an awesome time.
Oblivion for me, I got it on PS3 and it was just immense- Its what I think swayed me to go out and build a PC, which lead to me learning VB.net/C# rather than just html/css, and that eventually got me on my job as a programmer. So I'm quite greatfull. That and the 150+ hours thats been spent wondering around cyrodiil.
