Quake II, for sure, has one of the best soundtracks ever. I've listened to that music a massive ammount, its just some great metal. HL2 had a great soundtrack, it really pumped you up while you were playing it, I like it alot. I like Deus Ex's one, but I'm a massive fan, so my view is jilted. UT2004's was very good.
1) Tyrian 2) OMF 3) NFSU Almost all games I will turn off the music ingame and leave winamp running in the background.
Yeah but did you nab the Advent Children soundtrack yet? I'm waiting for a stateside release and won't pirate the movie just because I have that much respect for the series (anything else it wouldn't be a question) but it's quite impressive. And are you listening to it on THX-certified speakers? Huh, are you? *drool* I've *ahem* aquired eight and ten 'tracks, thought the game of nine was a dissapointment, and I haven't played either X-II or XI, for a silly concept and monthly fees respectively. Which reminds me... I need to get my copy of FF7 back. Lent it out to someone and as I have every other day off from school I don't see him too often... :/
The Doom 3 theme is most likely the best part of the game. Other than that, GTA:VC and the Jedi Knight games.
in the opening cinematics they play a techno's up version of Barbers Adigio for Strings which is simply sublime. It appears to exist NOWHERE not even in the games music extracted music files.
Outcast had one of, if not the best soundtracks of any game ever made. The music itself was absolutely beautiful (performed by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra IIRC) and just fitted perfectly with the game. Of course, none of this will mean anything except to the handful of other people who actually played the game - to say it is an underappreciated classic is a serious understatement.
Oh yes, another i'd forgotten. great soundtrack for sure This is the type of thread that it takes someone else to remind you of games that you had long forgotten. Good thread IMO One more i must add is Silent Hill. The opening theme is just amazing!!!
That whole game was awesome, not just the music. I was nuts enough to get the english rom for it (yes, I own it) and after beating it on PC and SNES went and got the french version and had a play. Seeing as I was in French 1 at the time, I think I might have understood all of three words had I not had most of the text memorized.
For me, A composer of Game soundtracks would be Matt Furniss. He's made a lot of good sountracks, particularly these: Alien 3 (Sega Genesis) - Best composed soundtrack IMO Terminator 2: The Arcade Game (The actual arcade) Smash T.V. (The actual arcade) Normality (PC) Excite-Bike 64 (N64) Then just for the hell of it, I think these games deserve an award for best composed music: Doom & Doom II Rise Of The Triad: Dark War Duke Nukem Series Quake II Ridge Racer Revolution Pop Will Eat Itself's Loaded Soundtrack Mega Man 2 & 3 Street Fighter 2 Nah I don't listen to much music
