Hey guys I got a computer that im going to be redoing for my sister to use (She's 6, gotta start her early...) and I want to know what is the best Education software apps or OS's out there to use. Her school has the kids working on old macs (Some form of a old school Power Mac, idk what software, but its OS 6 or OS 7 Compliant) and she loves working on them, so I figured I'd help her further herself. I was going to install Edubuntu, but I tried that in a VM and didnt quite like the results. Seems too childlike (would have been fine when she was 4) and not enough of an educational aspect. So What others are there? I know there are some Windows Apps and there are some *nix apps, but whats the best for K-6 (which is the least complicated to grasp/understand and is the most educational)? TIA, Null

    Hey Null,
My son uses Ubuntu for most of his school/studying. It has a LOT of software for students. I am not sure if they have a wide selection of tools for that age level though. You might want to check out Qimo. I will do some research and post back if I find anything.

Thanks cgw1123, I appreciate it. Ill go google it ;). Ubuntu and its viariants seem to be secure and user friendly, and my sister understands the very basic of *nix, so Ubuntu shouldnt be too hard. Hopefully there is something out there free for her age...

ninja... im downloading it now and going to try it in a VM. Ill post results once its all configured
