...is officially the Microsoft Ergonomic 4000. Just picked one up today, and I must say it's total love. It's got an uber feel, the cushioned wrist-rest is really comfy, the slight curve of each row of keys in addition to the standard ergonomic shape, and the tilt attachment thing that angles the keyboard up at 7 degrees just make this the best keyboard ever. All of you should gogogo buy one. Now. That is all. EDIT: Pics
oh hoh, touche.. theres just one flaw in your master plotting TMM... THIS THREAD WASNT TITLED BEST ERGONOMIC KEYBOARD!
What about this bad boy? Pricey as hell. A few years back, I started getting CTS, couldn't type at all. Got this and used it for about six months pain free. After it went away, I ended up back at normal keyboards. I really should either use it or throw it up on ebay.
i dont like the backwards tilt thingy, but the curved rows looks like a nice improvement over my natural pro i might get one and use the one i like least as a secondary keyboard for laptop
May I ask if the 4000 has the 'duel use F-keys', requiring you to press the F-lock key to make the F-keys useful?
It does, but I'm as yet unaware as to whether the F-lock (enabling the function keys normally rather than their stupid alternates) is by default on or off when you turn the computer on. I'll find out Monday... Fake edit: not that it matters much as my KVM will just keep it at whatever state I want it to be...
Hate to do it, but as Yoda would say "Pwnt, your noob keyboards are." IBM Model M buckling spring keyboard. Greatest keyboard ever made. There are no cheap rubber domes or laptop scissors, it is made out of mechanical switches and springs. The keys CLICK when you hit them. It's a joy to use. Is it just me, or is putting expensive OLED displays on a keyboard stupid? I don't know about you guys, but the last time I looked at my keyboard while using it was 2003 and I had a Dell Quietkey. Screw displays, all you need are the bumps on F and J (and it doesn't even have those, looking at the picture) Although respect must go out to the dude with the MS keyboard, as he uses the same background on his middle monitor as I do on my main monitor. I find that if you set it to Windows Classic theme and put the theme at "Teal (VGA) and set the background color to teal it looks real pimp. Also, how much did that chair cost and where did you get it?
Amen to that... my back is jealous I've never really liked the "natural" keyboards myself, although I haven't had time to adjust to them. I might pick one up at some point and give it a spin. How much did that thing cost? As for the IBM keyboard... I've always wanted to try one of those. Everyone always harps on about the key action and I've never had the pleasure of experiencing it.
Ick no, they're horrible. I can't stand the things. My setup was remarkably similar to the one a couple posts above until I lost my mind and finally moved my half-decent keyboard over to my other desk while my main rig was under the Dremel. Same mouse though, and similar old-and-crunchy keyboard. That chair for the win though. Mine might be three-way-adjustable (up-down, back tilt, seat tilt, plus a seat forward-back slider so really four ways) but that one just owns.
Indeed, Floyd album art Cheesecake . Chair was $140 (I think, it was on sale) at CostCo, a bulk warehouse kinda store. Gotta say it's really comfy, though . Nice av, btw $64.95 at Circuit City. Coulda gotten it cheaper from Newegg, but they didn't have it in stock, and I wanted it now My favorite keyboard used to be a tie between the Logitech Elite and the good 'ol Dell Quietkey, but this thing has come in and pwned everything all over the place. It's just so heavenly Oh, and DreamTheEndless, I've seen those before. Look really comfortable, but I can't imagine the amount of time it would take to get fully used to that. And I can't see it being easy to going back to using any regular or standard ergo after using that thing. I seem to remember them being insanely expensive too Oh, and It's on by default now, seems they've listened to the hordes of complaints
