They are completely awesome. I love it.
It took about 2 1/2 weeks to get used to it, but after that time, I have no problems at all switching between any different keyboard. Right now on my desk at work, I have the kinesis, and original microsoft natural, and a mac ADB keyboard and I type on all of them. At home, I have a wireless microsoft professional (the ergonomic one)
I would get another kinesis for home, but that brings me to your next point. They cost about $300. I am hoping that I can get work to spring for a new one for me (They now come in USB and are programmable) for work and then let me take the current one home as I work from home quite often.

Anyway, they are completely great. Come in macintosh and dvorak flavors if you want them to and are a dream to type on if you type all day. They have a similar key action to those IBM keyboards that everyone talks about.

My doctor told me that I would need surgery for my RSI (Repetitive Stress Injury - AKA Carpal Tunnel - AKA Repetitive Motion.......) if it didn't get better. I got one of these keyboards instead. That was about 3 years ago and I still haven't had surgery.

The things I don't like about it (If I were giving a review about it, which I'm not,) are:
    1. the lack of a numeric keypad. They do the thing that some laptops do which is let you press a special function button that turns some of the keys into a numeric keypad, but it's not the same as having it always available.
    2. missing windows keys. The latest versions come with extra keycaps and are (as I said above,) programmable so you can chose between having apple keys, windows keys, extra CTRL and ALT keys or whatever.

    Anyway, it's great.
That's all. Sorry if I stole this thread, I've had lots of caffeine today.

Man, you did steal this thread, and my bank account :sigh:
5 minutes ago, I knew I was typing on the greatest keyboard the world has ever seen, now I don't know... Do they have a demo program (or a very good return policy)? $300 is a lot to plunk down blind, but if I could test it out for a week or two... damnit, I hope they don't have a demo program, my wallet is crying already. The trick is going to be playing it off as an educational product that will help me do better in school, then I'll recieve parental financial aid...

The logitech Ultra-X keyboard is pretty good. Its a right arse to keep clean though :(

I'm loving the keyboard on my iBook atm though, keys are so easy to press, and they're just in the right places!

I can't stand the iBook keys, I find the action feels really cheap. The PowerBook keys are nice, though :V

Oh, and Altron, if you do buy it, be sure to take lots of pics :D. And do a full write-up. That keyboard looks awesome.

i think if you have trouble with keyboards even a horde of mac users shouldn't be a problem :p
also all you have to do is point and shout 'omg video ipod' then walk the other way :D

Ask them - they might. I think the only way you can buy them is online. They also have a lot of cool accessories, like a footswitch that you can use for your shift key or mouse clicks.....

    Edit:
I know hotlinks are a no-no, but this will just be one for a little bit. I will fix it later. This is the new model that I want:

Edit: Oh, and about the parental financial aid - compare for them the cost of the new keyboard VS. the cost of surgery later in life.... Might work...

A guy who worked on our helpdesk had one of those and liked it pretty well. He actually had 3 or 4 alternative pointing devices including a really cool pistol-grip style mouse.

The way the SmartNAV works is by tracking a small circular reflective sticker that you can put on your glasses or headset microphone (or nose) for mouse movements. You can also buy one of these if you don't want to deal with the little stickers.

Looks less comfortable than the one you have, it's not got those funky rubber wristrests?

They don't come attached. You put them on yourself. Not an issue.
