Acer has a couple new laptops that you might be interested in.

    The AS5739G: blu-ray, 4GB ram, 250gb hdd, a 2.1ghz C2D, nVidia GT130: $750.

If you don't want the bells and whistles, they have the AS5536 model which has a dual core Athlon, 3GB ram, a Radeon HD3200, and a 320GB hdd. The price is shocking: $480! Just don't buy it from Newegg, they're selling for it for $600 for some reason. Tigerdirect and B&H have it for $480.

Both have 15.6" 1366x768 LED backlit screens which are excellent, I've played with one at Sam's Club. :thumb:

They're pretty solid, and ~1-1.5" thick. Both are great deals.. The first one will let you play some games, it should handle Source games pretty easily, but the second one is such an amazing deal.. I really want to buy it as a replacement for my EeePC 4G, it's priced around the same as higher-end netbooks, but the specs blow away any Atom-based model. Apparently they're both 780G based, if that means anything to you.

If you're not into Acer, Dell's Outlet has some great deals on their laptops.

No mention of processor speed... But i don't think there are any Core 2 Duo's less than 1.83... Seems a good deal but it would be nice to know exactly how old it was and if it was given new or already second hand. I've always been a bit skeptical about buying computers on Ebay tbh... And does customer service continue if it's second hand? You definitely don't get a warranty as you have no contract with the manufacturer (only the seller).

Depends how long the warranty is. Dell actually gives the option of being able to transfer the ownership of a system (including any outstanding warranty period) to another person within the same country as it was bought as long as their full details are supplied by the previous owner - Link

I'd go for one of those! Really good prices esp if you're getting LED screens. Most laptops use TN LCD screens because they're cheap.
