Hi all, building a new pc, and was debating over graphics cards. im definately going with nivida, but i cant decide on what model, and even what brand. so i was hoping you guys could help me out. i'd like one with a pretty good warranty, 1 year at the least. im a fan of evga, but im open to anything. wanting to spend about £180, but that can go up a bit, if its worth it. also, while im here, im looking for a mid range psu, something that will run a core 2 duo e6750, the above graphics card and other normal components. thanks!
Go for an 8800 GT 512Mb , that'll be ~ £130/£140. Then spend the rest on getting half on a DFI DK P35-T2RS.
i allready have the motherboard, a gigabyte p35c ds3r that im going to be using in the build, sorry should have mentionerd this. but did u suggest this for overclocking purposes? i dont really intend on overclocking right away, possibly in the future. also, what specific 8800 gt would you go for?
thanks all, 512 8800gts it is. what make and model would you recommend? also, any thoughts on the psu?
PSU: Corsair HX520 or VX450 (or VX550) as for the make of the card ... I can't help you out on that one
good model erm... how about this bfgtech one? http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=713729 unfortuantly its out of stock at scan but im sure other places will have it, and psu what wattage you looking for? i reckon anything around 500 will cover everything you need and give you some headroom if you wish to oc or add more hard drives etc so how about.... this corsair 550w vx sereis http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=664337 read some good reviews on it and a good 5 year warranty with it, or if you don;t need as much juice check out this one http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=644038 i use that PSU and its probably the best i have ever used, quiet and very reliable! cables are a good length, however the 4+4pin is a little short inside my p182, so it can be run behind the back panel to the connector, but thats just a minor flaw.
if you want a transferable warranty get the xfx. if you might step-up, get an evga. otherwise just get the cheapest model you can find. no point paying the factory to overclock it when you can do it yourself for free.
Corsair HX 620 would give you a bit of a window for future upgrades Just read another great review on the above yesterday it really does seem to be a well made quality PSU here is the link http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/371
Crap! I just bought the 8800gts for £180: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/138551 Should I cancel the order?
of course. even if you were to get 8800GTS, OCuk's BFG is a lot cheaper than £180 Inno3D. stay with the big brands
