i would like to request a page on bit-tech that shows the best hardware of each class, for example: the best graphics card by: power/price = a short list of best bang for the buck superior power = a short list of the best of them all avoid = a list of hardware in the class to avoid best non gaming = a list of the best simple graphics card with best bang for the buck and so on for the other hardware each time you do a review you would update the list. i would like to see the list open to suggestions and criticism......
Not a bad idea, it's certainly something many websites lack. I was on TR the other day wondering about getting a new display. Absolutely no idea where to start, I ended up looking through the reviews one by one until I found one that got good review. Surely there must be a quicker way of doing it. Generally I'd say as a website to go on every couple of days, bit-tech is great. But as a reference website, the archiving tools are none-existant. Say I knew that there was a selection of developer columns on the website, and I fancied reading them, how would I find them? What about a list of games reviewed in 2007, or graphics cards? Of all the headsets reviewed in 2007, which one was marked the highest rating? Some of these questions actually prove very difficult to answer currently.
apart from TomsHardware's "best graphics card for money this month" there's really no other website does this. i really hope Bittech does a similar one, so multiple source (i believe BT more) is always good.
customPC (UK far as im aware its not sold elsewhere) in their magazine have a few pages in each issue stating the best in each catergory for type of hardware and price range. It only gives one product in each catergory that has topped their reviews but its something. But a more complete list, would often make it easier to compare things without searching for individual reviews. The only problem is it would take some doing if we consider all the various use pc parts have and then all the different price ranges people normally tend to shop in.
This used to be a sticky a few years back. The problem is that it is contstantly changing and needs someone to stay on top of it if its to be any use at all. It worked well for a few months, but then everyone lost interest. IMO theres more value in reading around reviews and deciding for yourself what the best option is.
Hey guys, Sorry I didn't get to this before now! It's something that I definitely want to do, but the problem with it at the moment is that the database needs a bit of work to get up to speed to implement something like this. However, it's something that is certainly on my roadmap for the site this year (all being well) as part of something bigger! Tim
