I'm new to the boards and I was wondering if the regular members could bump or repost any particularly good disaster mods (with good pictures). I've been searching the past posts but most of the images are dead links. Thanks in advance for your help.

Yeah I saw that one, it was impressive, but not really a "Mod." I'm looking for flames and smoke "on-film" because of an honest mistake or mishap of fate. I'm sure this is a pretty rare thing, (Who sits there and snaps photos of thier computer burning up?) But even aftermath pics would be cool to see.

toms hardware guide has several full length "videos what happens when a heatsink is removed from the processor while it is running" and " Overclocking the 5GHZ project" was also very interesting. :jawdrop:

Oh come on... I've seen one of those new LGA 775 CPUs run fine for about 15 minutes without a heatsink. It was stable enough at 95 CELSIUS to run Windows.

We got the call at work from this guy wondering if 95 degrees celsius was running too hot. Figuring that he was misreading the information, we told him that it really was 95 F. A few days later, he calls again, saying the system is randomly re-booting. We get it shipped back to us, and find that the CPU heatsink had come completely off. Just for fun, we flip the computer on, and it works.

(Edited to hide my bad BBcode skills)

Not anymore they're not. That video is old, so is that technology. The processors don't fry anymore, though it still makes good entertainment ;)

You mean to tell me the LGA775 cpu survived with NO heatsink what so ever!

now... wheres someone willing to test that with an AMD 64? id like to see how long they last, as the LGA775's run hotter than an amd64 for sure :D

they just start slowing down (well actually they turn on and off really quickly) to manage the heat. if it gets too hot the mobo may kick in and reboot the machine. so they'll probably last as long as each other ;)
