I already have a Samsung SSD 830 Series 256GB which I have windows on. But I am looking to possibly totally re-format and move windows on to a smaller SSD (maybe 120GB) and then use the 830 for my most played games (which will include GTAV). Would there be any point in this? Is a cheaper SSD a better choice than a normal good mech HDD like the Samsung F's I have currently? I would still keep the mechs, just wondered if this would be worth it. I don't have much to play with, i'm hoping to upgrade my GPU at some point.
wont set any records but its solid and plenty fast for a game drive http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-Te...e=UTF8&qid=1428964353&sr=8-1&keywords=120+ssd cheap as chips as well
Pretty much agree but wouldn't order anything from Amazon who have a pretty filthy and often useless delivery system. Get it from Ebuyer instead. http://www.ebuyer.com/411692-kingston-120gb-ssdnow-v300-2-5inch-ssd-sv300s37a-120g To generally answer your other questions, I already use a similar set up to what you propose. I've my Windows 7 on a 120Gb SSD, current played games on a 480Gb SSD and 4TB mechanical drives for everything else. It works really well, ensures a quick boot up time, for both windows and games and amkes doing a reinstall of windows itself very quick and painless (I do this once every 12 months or so just to keep it reasonably clean). should anything go wrong it can almost always be resolved in worse case scenarios with a resinstall of windows - which is really very quick on an SSD. Very much worth it, especially at today's very low SSD prices.
