I'm not up on phones and I'm not up on contrcts deals. I think you stop caring about the latest phones etc after your about 14. Anyway, i need help finding a handset/contract to suit my needs; and i've heard i can get some great deals while i'm at uni.

    Contract
    -Price: £20 or less preferably.
-Including: I mostly text, so free text package is very important, most of my mates have free minutes so they call me so minutes dont really matter.
-Handset: not picky dont really care, needs to be colour and needs to have fast response, i hate sluggish phones...thats about it.

So the best student contract for sub £20 with the most free texts basically? Any suggestions??

    cheers
    Fuss.

They change it every so often, I started it just under a year ago, when it was 500, afaik it went from 500, to 200 then up to 300. But as I started on 500, I stick at 500 :)

Orange do a student tariff which gives you about a thousand free messages and (I think) 50 minutes that's pretty cheap iirc.

    Whoa whoa whoa...

The BEST student mobile service by far is dot mobile. They run on the vodafone network, so you can expect the same coverage, but it's a different company. The benefits are these:

You don't get minutes and texts, you get units. These can be used for minutes or texts, so it doesn't matter how your breakdown looks.

Units carry over for one month, but get used first in that second month, so chances are you won't miss out on any.

All calls to any mobile or landline at any time cost 2 units per minute, but off peak, you can call for up to an hour for just 6 units on my plan.

My plan costs £35 but it's half price for the first six months, so I'm paying £17.50 at the moment.

My favourite thing is that they can text you when you're running out of units to let you know, so you don't go way over budget.

    Good luck!

On the same deal and it seemed the best vfm at the time of purchase. They also do an alternative option for those who talk more than they text.

If you've got a phone already, the o2 10 quid for 300 text's deal isnt bad..
Costing me ~ 7.50 a month atm, inc calls texts etc, so its pretty damn cheap. o2 seem a bit lax on the text front too, so quite often you can get 350-400 per 10 quid top-up.. Calls arent really expensive, 25p/first 3 mins, then 5p/min after

Quite simply the best text-offer around is from orange. Up to 1500 texts a month, for free, simply because you're a student for the next 3/4 years (as long as you're a student).
