im considering putting a windows in my case but aint to sure on which way is best. its a full tower chieftec case and i was thinking about putting 2 windows in it. one over the moby, and then another near the top by the 92mm rear fan, cus this will hopefully be light modded. Would it be best to just cut out the shapes and stick a sheet of perspex across the whole of the inside of the case side or use the rubber strips and have the perspex cut to the same size as the holes and slotted in.
:bump: this guy needs help damnit!!!!!!!!!! get a server window for it from either tek heads, or the oc store
some places u can get custom ones just for chieftecs... that may have been in USA i think sticking windows two back would be best... or kinda like Shad0r did http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5700 there that would be great
I also am gonna put in a window and have purchased a sheet of plexiglass to put in there....... I don't kno if i should cut individual pieces or just leave it as a large sheet........ also, where can i get that black rubber molding that will go around the outside of my window............ mind you, i live in the states... could that kind of thing be found in an arts and crafts store?
I did the same to my Chieftech Dragon Midi last week (trying to get hold of digi cam). It's a square window with no rounded corners. I used rubber beading which is less hassle than rubber moulding. I just bolted my plexi sheet straight to the case panel with screws around the frame, like the Lian-Li window. The Plexi sits on the beading so it's air tight, well, there are no gaps between the plexi and rubber. My window measures 6cm in from all sides. I cut round the handle, so it's kind of square window with a round bit where the handle is. Tip If you want to cut a nice even line around the handle: - get a cutting disc - put a pencil inside the hole - use the cutting disc to guide the pencil around the egg shaped handle.
ChuckleMuffins: That black (or chrome) rubber moldling can be found at Pep Boys. get the 25' roll, NOT the pack of two rubber strips (they aren't flexible enough). You can apply a hairdryer to soften it up a little more for the sharper corners (but there is a limit to how much it can bend). Will run you around 9 or 10 bucks.
OK...I'm corn-fused here...are we talking locking strip molding, or regular edge molding? With the former, you'll have to cut the window(s) to fit; the latter used to line the cut and attach the plexi with foam tape, hot glue, bubblegum or whatever.
