    Quoted from AOL UK news...

    "BRITONS TOP EUROPEAN FAT LEAGUE

BRITONS are the fatsos of Europe and the second fattest nation on the planet, according to a study out today.

Only the notoriously podgy US has more cases of obesity than the UK - where more than one in five adults is seriously overweight.

The Americans top the world fat league, drawn up by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, with 26% obesity among adults.

The UK is second with a hefty 21%, while the Swiss are Europe's trimmest with an obesity rate of only 6.8%.

The Japanese are the world's skinniest nation with a shapely 2.9% obesity rate.

Britain's Public Health Minister Hazel Blears said: "We are concerned by rising rates of obesity.

"There are clear links between obesity and our biggest killers - heart disease and cancer.

"We need to ensure everyone has access to a healthy diet and leisure facilities."

She claimed the problem was being tackled with daily fruit and physical activities for children."

Oh dear.. :eeek: Heh, Britains getting a good reputation for a bad thing :eyebrow:

Of course, even the sumos are fit, to some degree. Those guys pump some serious iron. It's a paradox, but it is possible to be overweight and have a reasonable health status.

yeah, sumos are banks of muscle, however what usually happens to them is ankle, knee and hip problems, the human skeleton is not meant to place that much pressure on the legs.
