Makes me think about the wait for my first raspberry pi. They really were harking back to the old days of computing. I've used scan and ebuyer, never had an issue with either, although now I mostly use scan due to the free next day delivery. In my opinion amazon and their super saver delivery is bad, 12 days for a Web cam to be delivered, but they said it would be 3 weeks so I suppose it wasn't too bad.
Thing is though, scan & Bit-tech have an arrangement in place ( preferred partner on reviews + sponsorship? ), hence the free next-day postage deal for forum members as Bit-tech drives customers to them. There is no such deal in place between Ebuyer & Bit-tech, so don't expect & why would you expect super-fast free shipping....
Indeed, and you have to spend £20 on Scan to get the free shipping; buying a £5 item and having to pay several quid for postage isn't that great when Ebuyer offer a slower free service ( not everything needs to be delivered urgently I'm sure.. ).
That's assuming it actually does arrive. Yodel have failed to meet my (already rock-bottom) expectations with their latest delivery. Apparently "I will collect the next day" means "leave the parcel with a neighbour who denies all knowledge of receiving said parcel", "next day delivery" means "a week tomorrow", and "come back to pick this up for return to ebuyer" means "don't bother, I'm fine paying £50 for **** I don't want any more because you took too long to send it over". Beware of ebuyer and any retailer that uses Yodel.
In who knows how many years of using Scan I've had disappointment after disappointment due to stock and delivery problems (not all DPD drivers are made alike) - this is evident from any of my posts in their partner forum here. In stark contrast, every recent order I've placed with eBuyer has been processed and delivered on time (by Yodel) and what's more is their postage is free to me in NI - not the £15 that Scan charge to deliver an order in anything up to 8 days.
I know that feel, to be honest, I've hastily clicked the wrong delivery option or Amazon Marketplace seller far too many times. It's infuriating, but not their fault. While we're having a buyer's whinge thread, though, has anyone experienced kinda shitty warranty behaviour from Dabs before? Twice I tried to RMA my graphics card (second time was successful eventually) and each time they began by trying to fob me off onto the manufacturer first, and wouldn't deal with me until I'd contacted Asus tech support and had their word that they couldn't deal with it. The second time it happened I called dabs out on it, accusing them of exploiting customer laziness to save them honouring some of the warranties they were legally bound to, and they claimed it was just their policy to redirect to the manufacturer first because for most products the manufacturers handle warranty claims. This has never been my experience of it, though - I thought the point of purchase was ALWAYS responsible for as long as the original warranty lasted. /tangent
I don't know about other makes but EVGA actually have a huge sticker on the inside of the box saying that in the event of any problems you're to speak to them - not the retailer.
