Hi folks I am currently playing a lot of Battlefield bad company 2 at the moment and with my Dual core E8500 @ 4Ghz and BFG 9800gx2, I am getting an average of 40-45 fps online with settings at high, 4xAA and monitor res of 1920x1080 and Vsync applied. Sometimes the frames drop to around 25-30 during massive firefights, however I am wondering if the game will perform better if I was running a quad core CPU.

Currently my CPU is running at around 95% and not flat lining at 100% does this suggest my CPU is coping?

Should I upgrade to a quad or wait for Fermi??

from what I'm seeing, fermi isn't doing so great. Sure the GTX 480 is faster than the 5870, but it's apparent price is going to be around 700$ US. That's 300$ more than a 5870 lol.

Anyways, definitely a quad core will help, especially with all the physics of the destructable buildings and stuff.

Source? Other than that silly SabrePC listing!

This may be worth a read - Clicky

The long and the short of it is, a quad will offer you performance benefits.

Well seeing as you are on a higher Res, it might be better to get a new GPU.

Although a Quad will help you on an overall basis.
