Been having this problem for a while now; forum pages with the BFG ads eat up 100% of my CPU and bring Firefox to a crawl. This picture is just one open tab:

    Anyone else getting this?

This is something I've had an issue with for some time, however it only affects me when surfing on my laptop with firefox and flash based ads.
I don't seem to have a problem on any of my other PC's, work desktop, or work laptop all of which are also running firefox.

flashblock add on for firefox is the solution, I mentioned the issue of power hungry flash it in the post that was put up for intoduction of textlinks ads.

My little Atom CPU can't cope with the flash on this site so I have no choice but to block all the advertising, probably not what Bit tech want to hear but my battery life and usability shouldn't suffer due to advertising.

Ad block, flashblock etc do work, however some of us attempt not to block ads on bit-tech, mainly because no ads equals no bit-tech.

Never felt the need to block ads before (BFG made me do it) but seriously try browsing on an eeePC or similar when that BFG ad running, its impossible, I still see the gif/jpg ads and have no problem with those they don't break my user experience.

An advert shouldn't take more CPU than a game would, its not right!

I've passed this on to the sales team and they have requested less resource-hungry versions. CeBIT is on this week, but hopefully it shouldn't be too long before they're changed.

Hmmm same here - thought it was my PC, managed to track it down to the bit-tech web page but never made the link to that add - but now you mention it...
