Less than 20$ difference which is better to go with? http://www.ncix.com/products/productdetail2.php?noheader=1&sku=39199 or http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=32804&vpn=AMD-ATI-RADEON4870X2&manufacture=NCIXPC
I have the BFG OCX (basically the same but slightly overclocked) and its truely an amazing graphics card! its run almost every game completely maxed out @ 1920x1080 and bumping up the AA doesn't have much of a fit on the frame rate like other cards i've tried. I haven't used the ATI card but you cannot go wrong with the 285, although if you want to save a bit of money the 275 is out now and performs almost as good.
do you play COD alot? do you fold? if yes to either, then grab the nvidia card, though i would personally grab a gtx 275 like ry@n suggested. if not, then the 4870 x2 outperforms the gtx 285 ocx handily. heck the 2gb version of the 4850 x2 beats it most times at almost any resolution as well.
Ya i look at some benchmarks it even get average 35 fps in crysis very high in 1920x 1200 win 2 xaa so i might get it and upgrade in 2 years time.
4870X2 blows the GTX 285 away in general performance, but for folding ATI is never the better one. 4870X2 will give you good FPS in CoD, not as good as the GTX 285, but with pretty much any other game, the 4870X2 wins. Check the review: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2009/01/30/bfg-tech-geforce-gtx-285-ocx-1gb/1 GTX 285 folds better, draws a lot less power, is quieter, etc. 4870X2 is faster.
