There is a difference between members of the public committing random crimes and vandalism, and members of the public illegally entering government buildings and intimidating government officials to stop a legitimate democratic process with the endorsement of the President of the US who lost an election. Like I said: if you can't tell the difference, you cannot make a meaningful contribution to the debate. The US Constitution frames the republic as a representative democracy, most recently re-asserted in the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Moreover, in practice it holds elections of its representatives. So it's clearly a democracy.
With how deranged Trump is they are kind of a necessary evil... Because a lot of the shite he spews wouldn't be believed if someone retyped it by hand on a random internet forum, so you basically always need a source to back you up when laughing / facepalming / crying at the Orange One.
A disturbing degree of support for Trump and his cretins among Republican voters. YouGov poll: https://today.yougov.com/topics/politics/articles-reports/2021/01/06/US-capitol-trump-poll
Facebook's announced it's naughty-stepping Trump "indefinitely," and at a minimum until Biden's sat in the Oval Office behind the big desk. Hasn't taken his page down, mind you, but nobody can post any updates to it.
Well, silver lining, this is most definitely the end of Trump in politics, there won't be any 2024 after this. I'm not expecting it, but it wouldn't be a huge surprise if we get a few days of President Pence between now and the handover.
Trump and Giuliani are both responsible for inciting violence that resulted in four deaths. Never mind social media bans, they should be behind ****ing bars right now.
So Twitter and Facebook want medals for doing the bare ****ing minimum after letting him spend most of the day pouting his ****. Same goes for the performative resignations from minor lackeys in the administration. **** the lot of them.
It won't be. And in the unlikely event it is, the stink will hang around long after the turd is flushed.
No different to Mitch McConnell stepping back from Trump after the writing is on the wall. He's hoping to survive this.

I agree the consequences are going to roll on for months, maybe years, but Donald himself is finished now. In a couple of weeks time he's going to be losing social media privileges, maybe Facebook and Twitter ban him, maybe he goes to Gab or Parler or whatever. It won't matter, the new administration is going to have precisely zero patience for anyone who who allows Trump to keep spewing his invective. More than that Trump's lost the popular vote, the electoral college and Congress, he's done, his angry mob isn't enough to win an election anymore now that the Democrats take him seriously.
I think Don Jr running is more of a worry, he's so in need for daddy's affection he'd drop a bomb just to get some attention.
Well Daughterwife was threatening to primary Ted Cruz in florida iirc So that would leave eldest failson, or the even dumber one. The Trump name will be stinking up the place long after Donny boy goes.
None of the Juniors have anything like the force of personality Donald has. They couldn't carry those absurd lies with anything like the commitment needed.
