I've been catching up on this thread from the beginning and these were gratifyingly prophetic.

No further thoughts yet, I just can't leave 'em in Multi-Quote forever because it drops them every time you use it.

Yuusou beat me to it, but there was really very little english language coverage when he did, the Arab world went mental, especially (predictably) Iran. It's been a sad side effect of Trump's constant tirades that when he does something serious it got lost in the melee.

So they voted, 57 to convict, 43 to acquit.

66 needed to convict, Trump is acquitted. Not a surprise, disappointing all the same.

Pretty much, truth, justice and the rule of law are social constructs, there is only the party.

I'm not sure if the roles were reversed the Democrats would behave any better, but I suspect we won't see a Deomcrat president behave like Trump in any of our lifetimes.

When you talk so much **** even your own lungs can't stand it anymore. Or, he finally got that award he said he deserved for all those years of promoting smoking.

I know it's not related to the election, but it is emblematic of the end of Trump's presidency that perhaps his most influential advocate should drop dead. Trump's brand of ******** is gradually imploding in on itself and it's going to be interesting to see if he can put it back together again in time for 2024.

As the #ETTD twitter hashtag has it - Everything Trump Touches Dies.
    As for imploding -

    Thread necro.

Charges of Sedition have been filed, those are meaty charges to face. That Indictment is typically word heavy but you've got to admire (pity?) the sheer arrogance of these people to organise and arm themselves over the internet and document the whole thing. It's a relief that the people who actually went through with it were as dumb as they were.

I follow the situation over there very closely. What's happening is very worrying. The democrats are engaged in a massive internal row over how many trillions to spend on the non-physical infrastructure and the republicans are likely to retake the house and possibly the senate in the mid-terms. Then in three years from now we may find that 6/1/2021 was just a dry-run.
