What is the biggest and most reliable 15,000RPM SCSI on the market right now?

73GB is the biggetst 15k you can get

    Fujitsu MAS is the fastest
Seagate 15k.3 is the quietest (but quite a bit slower)
Maxtor Atlas 15k is also good, but beaten by the fujitsu

i believe you can get them all from newegg, the 68pin models vary from $5-600 each

they are all *very* reliable being enterprise drives, provided you dont let them melt as they can get hot in tight spaces, active cooling is recommended for 15k drives, a quiet fan is usually enough

THIS would probably be a good case for 4 SCSI's then right since it has been designed with SCSI's in mind.

any case which has some ir blowing over the drives would be fine, you would only need that if you are hot swapping the drives, which would never really be of any use in anything but a database server or other mission critical applications

coolermaster or lainli if you want aluminum, as to the best of my knowledge all of them have intake fans in front of the hard drive bays

i have a YY0221B cube, i prefer its layout beause the hard drives are kept seperate to the motherboard and there are 2 92mm intakes in front of the 8 hard drive bays

BTW are normal IDE drives hot swappable?

hot swappable means u can remove or connect the drive to a running computer, right ?

well, as are they are not. BUT, if you set up an internal USB 2.0 card, and hack the cables, AND get cheap ide to USB connectors, you could do it no problem. the only issue I would see would be power. you could use just a whole USB hard drive external case, then hack the internals out of it, attach it to the back of the tray and be fine. who knows?

You want a Coolermaster ATC-4000 (doesn't support Extended ATX though) or the ATC-110 (which does).

Don't quote me on this, but I think SATA drives are hot swappable, which is why WD only released the raptor on SATA.

It may be worth looking into the 74GB raptor, as it is a good performer, quieter than 15K drives, and can probably be had for $200.

Looks like everyone has answered this question already, but I just wanted to add something.

    Just for GPs,
IDE drives are NOT hot swappable.
    SATA drives are hot swappable.

Any serial data device is usually hot swappable.

USB items like cameras, joysticks etc are all serial data devices. They are all hot swappable. (That means you do not need to power down PC to remove the item.)

    SATA  USB
