I really appriciate everyones support. I have two more panels to complete before I can do all the final assembly and call this project complete. Im looking at september to be a completion date, roughly two years after I first got started.

Thanks NutMan , I could use military miniatures at 1/35 scale for that effect.
I also thought about having workers on the inside of the facility located at control panels around the motherboard and maybe some zombies too.:eeek::eeek::eeek::eeek:

I really need to wrap this up, two years is too long for a build but doing the video work logs has been so time consuming.

I thought alot about your recommendations on the MB and CPU and possibly might make that change.

    Hehe, zombies would be awesome!

How about the gun turrets, I suggested earlier?

The gun turrets are a great idea too and I think I'll add them somewhere along the platform structure.
I have a ton of 1/35 scale German soldiers still in their boxes that I could build and modify the their look and add behind the gun emplacements.
Today I'm working on the motherboard tray and I/O panel on should have something posted soon.
Part 12 of the video work logs is nearing completion too.:thumb:

This case will give any miniature wargamer wet dreams. You could have your case double as terrain.

Out of curiosity do you play any miniature wargames?

I see that your from Seattle, me too but live in Vancouver now.
I used to play D&D when I was a kid but have always loved building dioramas and military models.
The great thing about this styrene is that it's so light, strong and doesn't absorb heat.
I finished the MB tray last night and working on the paint job today. I hope to have pics up to you guys soon.
    Take Care

Looking really good now with the lighting fitted. What I love about this mod is that it looks huge and then I see some of the bits in your hand and it actually quite small. Looking at the pic though it still looks about 3 feet wide. Top modding dude, can't wait to see it all up and running.

The dimension are exactly the same as the Cooler Master HAF X. I think its the scale im working in that makes it appear to be so large. The front panel is 23in wide and 9 in tall . Image the HAF X laying on it's side, this is roughly the dimensions.

    Motherboard Tray

Today Im going to get started on the motherboard tray. The form factor for the Asus Sabertooth X-58 is 12x9.6 in but I'll expand the edge of the right side of the board to allow for cable tie-downs.

    I'll be using Stock High-Impact Polystyrene 00.80.

Im going to follow the Resident Evil theme on this part of the build and install the Umbrella Corp. logo on the board itself.

    Lets Get Started!!

I traced out the design I liked on to the styrene then cut it out, from there I made the cut out for the CPU waterblock bracket into the styrene.

I pre-drilled the holes for the motherboard stand-offs using a 7/64 drill bit.

Before I continue I want to make sure all the holes line up with the holes on the motherboard.

The holes and the board all fit beautifully, now I'll remove the board and continue with the panels that will be attached to the MB tray.

I cut the panels out of 00.40 styrene and scribe panel lines into the pieces.

Then I spray 2 coats of primer , wet sand and repeat.

After the primer has dried I'll do one more pass with the wet sandpaper.

Now I'll mask the board off and lay down some graphics and paint.

I finish it off with 2 coats of matte finshing spray.

Now Ill get started on the Logos that will go on the board.

I print the image off the transfer it to my styrene.

I cut the logo out, scribe in panel lines and spray 2 coats of primer followed by more wet sanding.

Now I can lay down some color.

    First the white.

    Then the red.

With the 2 logos complete, Ill attach them to the board.

Possibly a few more graphic will be needed to really make this thing pop.

    Until next time..

    Stay Inspired and Keep Creating

That looks well cool. Thinking about the mobo, the sabre tooth was made for your build with the colour scheme it has. I think you'll have to say thanks to Asus for making your life easy with that one..lol

Mobo tray looks good, but I think it would be even cooler if you added som fake rivets like the structure has when seen from the outside - also, some weathering paintjob might improve the overall looks aswell?

Being on the subject of the paintjob - could you perhaps elaborate on which airbrush and compressor that you're using?

Agreed NutMan, it needs a few more graphics and weathering to really stand-out.I've come up with a few ideas I'll try out tomorrow.
The airbrush is a iwata hp-cs eclipse dual action and a t-55 compressor.
Both these can be purchased at TCPGlobal.com
I believe I paid with taxes and shipping around $199.00 .
It's one of the better brushes I've used but needs consistent cleaning to keep the nozzle head from clogging up.

I ve never seen before so much detail even on the motherboard tray!!! This is absolutely insane bro!!! And the primer you use is a top quality, I have a lot of experience in that subject lolz ;) but it needs sanding every time you apply a new layer. Keep up the fantastic work my friend!!! :)
