    very true!

Think I might give it a go then like you say, start with FSB @ 166, increase multi, then when reach highest stable point, increase the fsb & reduce the multi accordingly until get best fsb/multi/clock

spose it shows that I aint ever OC'd anything like this before :hehe:

    Sounds like a plan :D

I'm teh same TBH m8, not used to locked PCI/AGP's and having decent adjustments... Used to worrying about hdd corruption, not maxing the ram or CPU lol! All good fun though :D

If you download 8rda vcore, you can adjust the FSB from windows (along with other bits and bobs too :D)

:hehe: I'm just not used to it in general! I used to have an old K6-2 550 which would never run at full speed (only 330mhz), tried to set everything right with the million jumpers on the board, and 2 mins after booting up I was confronted by something I could use to fry an egg on! Still is all good fun at the end of the day ;)

Just out of interest, set RAM timings to 2.5,2,2,11... not tested it but it actually booted into windows, so guessing that the ram dont like CAS2 but is fine with CAS2.5 and above... bugger! Oh and thats still running the DDR at 2.5v!

Nice :D see how far it'll go on cas2.5 m8... You've got 3.3v to play with so you could get a LOT more outta it :D

there is some interesting results from CAS2.5 on the infinity/lanparty rev b.

The most important timings are tRCP tRP and tRAS... CAS doesn't make so much difference.

I agree with you there, I'm now running the memory at 2.5,2,2,8 (still 2.5v), and its slightly faster still, 3335MB/S read & 1291MB/S write... according to kingmax though this memory is supposed to have a peak bandwidth of 3.5GB/s, so I wonder if I will gewt it that high with some more extreme cooling... Watercooled RAM anyone :thumb:

FSB & multi is now 220x10@1.6v (but board is undervolting to around 1.55v), and running prime95 again now, all seems good so far!

I need to get the watercooling or something else sorted, get the CPU temps down more & try get the diode temps down a hell of alot too, as I'm getting to the limit of this chip under air-cooling now... Wouldn't mind a setup like your frosty-chip experiments bigz, but I won't ever be able to afford something like that! :hehe:

this is actually quite fun doing all this - the actual risk of it all going up in a poof of smoke doesn't really seem to bother me for some weird reason... Maybe deep down I want fire... Who knows :naughty:

There must be summit not right with that sensor m8, to hit 100°... Mine never seems to flash above 30, with cpu temps of ~43......

The peak 3.5ghz is the max the ram can get at its standard speed (217fsb) hence the naming 3500 :D If you increase the FSB, then the max theoretical increases :D

Could well be dodgy, I know the chip isn't properly picked up in the BIOS (reports as Unknown Processor) so if thats anything to go by I don't know!

Wonder though if it could be crap thermal compound maybe? I used the stuff which came with the cooler on there now & seemed very 'cheap' but surely that would also affect the socket temp

The mobiles do read incorrectly on initial boot IIRC

Both temps would read high if the compound/seating was poor and this appears not to be the case...

The compound was poor! Look at the temps now!

Just re-fitted the cooler & used Arctic Silver 5 compound, the drop in temps is extremely noticeable! I should be able to push a bit further now hopefully, the diode is now idling at 18C (better than 45-50!!!)

Going to have another run at Prime now & see if it makes a big difference, I'm expecting it will!

WOW! nice one :D Those temps are lower, still wouldnt trust them though LOL! Atleast the shutoff shouldnt kick in now....

Aye is true! 2.2GHz on air @ 220FSB I think is pretty damn good now for this chip, Prime 1Mb just failed though on rounding (returned 0.5 should be 0.4)... so going to try increasing the vcore to 1.65 (should then be 1.6v cos of undervolting)

Mind, everything else runs fine, other tests in prime gop no bother, just that one... Weird!!

Certain PC's fail certain prime tests, for some its 896, urs must be the 1024 one... it might not be 100% stable, but if it runs the others for a reasonable amount of time then its not far off :D

You reckon you can get 2.4ghz outta that cpu?
Could be worth getting a bios update as well m8.//....

Currently have the latest BIOS rev, but I'm sure there might be some out there trying to do there own (like was on the Abit BP6)...

Am thinking I might buy another of these chips next week... Just changed it a bit...

    DDR - 2.5,3,3,7 @ 2.6v
    CPU - 225 x 10 @ 1.65v

    Mem bandwidth now increased to
    Read 3395MB/s
    Write 1319MB/s

    Super-PI 1Mb is now 44secs :D

Running Prime again :hehe: I think I'm going slightly mad now with this! But its all good fun!

That rams not goin too bad at all m8, try for 230, might need a little more voltage though...
There are a fair few bioses available for the Infinity/lanparty, think the 1/21 is meant to the the best... These are betas though so no officla support from DFI. Would HIGHLY recommend a bios saviour before flashing though...

Not got the money now though to get one, but thanks for letting me know where I can get one from though, will get one next month when I get paid!

Just got the new hdd, so going to image everything across to that in a bit... Should help boot & load times a bit!
