From cpemmas circuit connect Fan+ to Fan+ on the bargraph, and Fan- to GND. No mods should be needed to use blue leds. You might want to replace R2 and R3 with a 10K preset to allow calibration of the display to the fan bus.

    thanks macro :)

When you say 10k preset what's that ? I assume its a variable resistor that will increase decrease the brightness of the leds ?

yes it's a small rheostat with 3 terminals. It is for adjusting the sensitivity of the input to the display so you can set it so at max speed the top led lights.

The wiper connects to the point between R2 and R3, one end to GND and the other end to Fan+ all on the display. R2 and R3 can be omitted.

Saw a nice presentation of that PONR bargraph display on a baybus at Ars C&CF forum .

He's set the displays behind an acrylic panel covered with car window tint film, so they're stealthed when off. Bit like my VCR front panel.

    Odd :grr: Bloomin hotmail :(

Wot was the error message out or interest ? As I've recieved emails tonight?

Try my other address gordy@hexus.net , thanks :)

Just ordered all the parts for it and those LM3914N are bloomin expensive £4.00 for one ! Still parts all in cost half the price of a Pc Mods rheobus and it will look much sweeeter :D

That would do it, those free mail services are cranky about attachment sizes...

Having an idle morning, I played with macroman's parts :eyebrow: and (with help from StripBoard Magic) came up with
    [IMG]
with "plug wire A in hole B" instructions:

May be easier to angle the caps, plenty of room :D

(Please let me know of any errors before I build my own :hehe: )

macroman: I do wish you'd use some other colours for schematics, the grey lettering and green wires print crap on my b/w laser. :sigh: :cries: ;)

Just spotted errors (or a deliberate variation on normal bargraph displays), the leds are numbered back-to-front

    Wooot thanks very much :D

Just a couple of question on the led's there is only one hole for each where does the other wire go ? And I assume its the postive side that is shown ? And the negative is just attached to the 0v line ?

Also why is the 12v line shown going into the circuit twice ??

Any ideas what the part code for the 0.47uf capacitor should be ? I can't find one that suitable ?
