Once you create an account and entry (team & strategy), click on "Join Public League" in the drop-down menu when you hover over your name - look for "Formula Bit-Tech" and just click the join button on the right :thumb:

Sounds like they accuse him of having kept the speed up until the last moment followed by slowing down abruptly rather than slowing down in a consistent fashion which could have potentially serious consequences if someone had been sniffing around his gearbox at the time.

I went with Team Super Fail Sport, Alonso an Sainz see what happens Sunday its supposed to be wet.

The Ricciardo thing is a bit odd cant really comment unless they release some form of evidence.

The Ricciardo penalty was actually figured out by someone smarter than me - it's just typical FIA wording that makes it more difficult to understand than is necessary:

He "failed to stay above the minimum time" - so say the minimum time for sector 3 was 28 seconds (just pulling numbers and sectors out the air here) and he did it in 26 seconds - that means he went faster, and in doing so "failed to stay above the minimum". Why they couldn't just say "went below the minimum time" is anyone's guess...

Not sure what to make of the battle for best of the rest, looks like it could be a three way fight between Renault, McLaren and Haas, I didn't really expect the Haas up there.
But at the sharp end its the same old story, Hamilton stamped his authority on quali hard (and as expected Red Bull looks closer to Ferrari than last year).

Stormer of a lap from Lewis today - pretty ominous for the rest of the season too.

HAAS and Renault with both cars in the top 10, most of which promoted up a place from Ricciardo's penalty, should make the start interesting with Grosjean and Magnussen where they are...

Not an absolute disaster for McLaren either, yeah they missed Q3, but they were saying from the start this would be their worst weekend - and they were considerably faster than Torro Rosso, so face has been saved. We all know Alonso is one of the absolute best when it comes to starts and opening laps, so I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him 5-6th by lap 2 (especially if one of those HAAS drivers causes some commotion) - then he just needs to make it to the flag.

Sauber looking like they have a LOT of work to do to get that car actually working properly, Force India less so but still some challenges up ahead.

Renault will continue their slow and steady approach (why not, it's working), so starting with both cars in Q3 isn't too bad, but they need to close the gap to RBR and Ferrari before McLaren do, otherwise it'll be a tad embarrassing for a works team to be beaten by BOTH it's customers.

Gonna be a fun morning tomorrow!

Also, @David - I think you have chosen the exact same team on the Fantasy F1 league!

If you compare his first lap in Q3 to his second lap you can see he hit every apex every corner correctly compared to first time where he missed a lot of them.

Car looked planted in the second run was all over in First.

A magic button does not plant the car to the ground

So it's just the bonus points that will separate us? Serendipity Cheesecake .

No it doesn't, but they definitely turned up the engine, Rosberg admitted it flat out on tv today that the Mercs have a go faster button for quali.

With the potential reliability issues using only 3 engines this season I reckon it was more they didn't turn it down as much as other teams than having a bonus mode. Brazil last year showed how much the engines are tuned down to survive multiple races.

There also could be an element that they decided screw it, We'll take an engine penalty later in the season and aim for points early in the season. Australia is typically a difficult circuit to overtake on track.

One of the qualifying reports did say that especially through the first corner and into third that Hamilton took that corner particularly well on the last run and that allowed him to carry so much more speed through the corner and on exit into the straight than previous runs. With or without magic buttons, it was still a damn good lap

    Rather ironic how
    finger took the lead
considering Hamilton spent like half of least season on the radio promoting the use of the VSC over the real Safety Car.

Well, I hope they sort out the rules - VSC is supposed to introduce a status quo i.e. no closing up, no advantage gained or lost, yet it effectively handed Vettel a seven second advantage and the win. Alonso gained big time too, over Max, although it did make it interesting to see if a McLaren could hold off a Red Bull.

Despite the above, not a bad haul for what Alonso reckons will be McLaren's worst race this year (in performance terms)

I'm not gutted by the result, as it does at least delay Merc's probable relentless march onwards toward another WCC and likely WDC, I just don't want races being decided in that fashion.

Agreed, it is a pretty stupid loophole they left open.

VSC slows down the field, so going to pits costs relatively less. Vettel's pit still took 25 seconds - but while at that 25 seconds at normal speed you would go through let's say 2km, at lowered speed Hamilton could only pass 1km for example. Thus the 14 second lead Vettel had was effectively 28 second lead due the lowered speed of everyone else. Result - Vettel returned in front of Hamilton. The only way to tweak VSC vs pit would be effectively closing pits during the VSC. Which would be stupid.

We had pits closed during SC for few years, and it was bad, bad, bad.
