I don't think DAS would of had a huge amount of difference, for example Sainz had the same problem. What is interesting though is Kvyat's issue. I agree with Brundle it doesn't look like a driver error it just suddenly went flat. Are the kerbs playing a part?

DAS affecting the tyres strikes me as silly talk, it reduces tyre edge loads and they don't using it during the race anyway, only to fine tune the set up on the warm up. Sainz didn't have DAS in his McRenault either.

Red Bull made the right call to pit, Max had done the same number of laps on his tyres as the Mercs so his will have been marginal too. My assumption is that the Merc's tyres failed because they were racing each other flat out the whole way, going faster than everyone else and thus putting the most load on the tyres.

Two stop race next weekend, assuming the safety cary doesn't throw a bomb under everyone's strategy like it did today. Ironically because of another puncture (Kvyatt's). More worrying for the Pinkcedes both having mechanical failures, not a good sign.

Surely das preserved the tires longer, as it prevents the scrubbing toe-out causes?

Well Hulkenjinx was meant to be commentating for German TV when he got the call so...

*gestures at the plethora of ex-F1 drivers in Sky and C4's presenting teams*

    Coultard vs Hill...1...2...3... debate

I wonder if it came to it would some if the FE drivers actually return to F1. It never actually crossed my mind but if drivers started dropping, we could see a driver entry list akin to the early days of f1

I still rather have Vergne and Buemi than those two toolbags in the Haas.

I think Maldonado would be more reliable a driver than either of the Haashole pairing...

They would actually be a nice pairing in F1

I would say Coultard too. I just dont rate Hill tbh.

I still cant understand why Haas has stuck with Grosjean. KMag i could argue to maybe keep on but at this point what is he really offering beyond being a slower version of Vettel thats meh at best?

Would love to see JEV and Buemi going toe to toe again. Their time at TR would mean they would have some chemistry. Hard to know if that time being part of the RB family would have poisened any sense of cooperation. I get the impression theyre pretty bitter over their time in F1.

So many FE drivers could make the cut, although
I didnt rate him at the time in F1 Di Grassi has always been strong in FE.
Heck piquet Jr wouldnt be a bad shout either.
Another outside call but overlooked racer Felix Rosenqvist. Would love to see if he could make it

He went toe to toe with Schumacher and only lost because the cheating git intentionally crashed into to him to prevent Hill taking the WDC.

I really like DC, I supported him and I think he has a better personality than Hill, but he wasn't in the same league.

Imagine - 2021, covid is still a thing...

Piquet Jr called in to be Ocon's stand-in at Renault, alongside Alonso...

Not much of a debate to me, one was champion, won in a Jordan, almost won in an Arrows, took the lead after Senna's death and only lost that year thanks to cheating (I mean the Benetton having traction control, not just the ram). The other won 13 races, but never really threatened the title despite driving Adrian Newey cars for his entire career.

No one will ever know exactly what Frank'n'Patrick were thinking when they decided to fire Hill one day over a cup of tea, then also decided not to tell their sponsors, their engine provider, their chief engineer or their drivers until they'd told Autosport first. But we do know Williams are feeling the consequences of that decision to this day.

    .....

Yeah because the old Covids plays by those rules.

I would have thought the rules present now should be the ones applicable rather than previous ones.
