In a wet race anything can happen. Guess the car was still drivable and a chance of a safety car and getting the crossover points right and possibly a gamble on dry tyres if the conditions allowed he still could have limped to first?
A wounded Merc is still better than williams or Haas :hehe:

Bottas was giving off strong Massa/Silverstone 2008 vibes! One thing that I still can't seem to understand is how there wasn't a single safety car moment during the whole race!

Observations and ponderings of the weekend
    1) stroll is poo when faced with real racing. He has the odd moment, but someone has to even out Hulk's unluckiness. I think it was unfortunate how it unfolded and had they kept him out, maybe he gets 2nd place, but that's a big maybe.
    2) Hamilton. Well, yeh. Seeing how emotional he got, probably more so than other other championship
    3) Bottas needs to make way for someone, he just hasn't got it.
    4) verstappen will drive himself out of world championships. How many times today did he get himself in good positions only to prematurely accelerate himself into facing the wrong direction. He needs to take a page out of Michael Winners book.
    5) I think the podium today was very fitting. Hamilton on top, his arch nemesis beneath him, with the man who would be king beside them.
    6) I'm so very glad they relaid the track.

For those who watch C$'s F1 coverage -

Alex Jacques replaces Ben Edwards on the Commentary team from 2021.

What's happened to Ben. I don't have any strong feelings for or against but interesting they're swapping out.

Yeh he's retiring, think he wants to just relax and spend time with his grandkids. Never been that much of a fan, but could be worse. Much worse. Imagine Jonathan Pearce on F1 (shudder).

I'm not sure, I've just never really gelled with his commentary. It's hard to describe it, but to me he sounds like someone who doesn't really know what they're talking about, but they've overheard you talking about it so they're attempting to strike up a conversation with you from broken bits of information they've gathered. If that makes sense? Like a colleague who you don't really know but they insist on joining in your conversations.

Not a fan of brundle, not too sure about him as he seems a bit full of himself now and loves his own opinion which is weird as I loved him when he was co commentator with Murray.

I live DC though and wish they'd use Webber more.

If you've followed F2 or any of the lower categories, you'll have heard him before. I think his commentary is pretty decent.

Having grown up watching Tourig Cars, BSB and WSBK through the nineties Ben Edwards is my voice of motorsport when it wasn't Murray Walker, so I'm going to miss him. But fair enough if he wants to retire and play Grandad after a decade of constantly being away from home.

The new guy will do fine.

I'd go to his first race as commentator and punch him in the face. I don't watch F1, I just have a huge dislike for his voice. I can't enjoy RobotWars or football because of him.
