I would bet Merc's argument is that the adjustment comes from the steering arms and that they are not part of the suspension. I doubt there's anything in the rules that says the steering arms have to work in unison and not opposition.
Yeah likely to be their route, apparently they asked the FIA before an got told its fine. Not sure the other teams will be too happy so I'll expect some protests.

I reckon they'll get away with it. Suspension changing with steering angle is pretty normal, so on that basis, I think getting it declared illegal is a stretch. The big thing this changes (potentially) is (IMHO) not straight line speed so much as tyre cooling, allowing them to, potentially at least, put more energy into the tyres in the corners, without killing them as badly. Whether it yields the results they were hoping for remains to be seen. Smaller teams have already whinged that it would be too expensive to copy.
Found out Kimi's red flag yesterday was caused by the team deliberately emptying the tank. I get that its very useful data to have but bit of a dick move knowing you will likely cause a red flag.
I think it's great. Been quite a while since there have been any big innovations and for a team that's already dominating, it's good to see they're still trying. This along with their new rear suspension should be one hell of a package.

I read somewhere that DAS is explicitly banned in the rules from 2021 onwards. Some people have raised safety concerns however it was said that the FIA wouldn't have given the go ahead to even test it if that was the case. I also saw in a video about it (think it was Marc Priestley's last one) one of the small teams pointed out it's not on any list of parts that teams have to develop meaning that it could in theory be bough in to be used. Might be something we see on team Stroll if Merc see enough benefits to the system. Also the video pointed out about parc ferme rules potentially being broken by the system. Use during the race should be fine but could be banned for qualifying.
I don't think it has been proactively been banned, from what I've seen there was already something in next years rules that would make it illegal. This difference between the regulations could also be the trigger for the idea.
Probably, but not doubt the wording will have had a going over to remove any potential ambiguity, and/or explicitly state 'you can't do this'.
